I've taken several months off from visiting my blog here. I'm back now though! Today I had an awesome time at Zumba. It's getting easier. For the
first time I'm able to do the higher impact moves. When I first started
I could not do any of the jump moves. I'm not doing them 100% yet. I'm
at about 80%. I ran for one minute at 6 mph today. Woohoo! Today was a legs and abs day for weight lifting. =)
I'm setting a mini goal.....I want to work on losing 5 pounds and getting down to 210. I think it's overwhelming to think of losing 30 or 40 pounds. So I'll just focus on this 5. Five is not so bad. =)
I went to Zumba tonight. It was a good 60 minutes of cardio.
I'm a few pages into my detox diet book. I hope that changing my diet will help to strengthen my immune system. This getting sick every other week is for the birds! The diet looks mainly like this: fish, veggies, and fruit. I'm going to give it a go for get in shape and improve my immune system. I wanted to cut out most processed foods anyway.
It's official....I am a bubble girl! Grrrr! I'm so tired of getting sick. I have been getting sick every 2 weeks. So I'll do really well for 2 weeks, lose 5 pounds, get sick for a week, and gain 5 pounds back. Grrrr! I don't even know how I got my las cold. I had an allergic reaction in my mouth because they glued a metal temporary cap in it. I'm allergic to metal so they gave my antibiotics for the infaction. I was on antibiotics, have been using hand sanatizer like a mad-woman, and didn't even leave the house......I got a cold. Grrr! The only place I could have caught it from was the dentist office.
When I get sick I stop working out, and the bad part is is that I'll go ahead and eat junk. "I don't feel well.....a milk shake will make me feel better." I need to try to really start eating super-healthy all the time. I think that it might help my (really weak) immune system, and maybe I won't gain pounds when I'm sick. I just need to accept that I will get sick often, and do the best that I can for myself.....cookies and ice cream make me feel better when I am sick....NO MORE! Grrr!
I am healthy at the moment. My goal is to really try to up the veggies, fruits, and fish. I read over and over about how healthy green leafy veggies are. I guess I will try them out. I'm not sure how to prepare them though....hmmm.
I went to Zumba last night. I want to make sure that I try to dance at least 4 times a week. My brain says to try 6 times, but that might set me up to fail. So I'll go for 4 and any extra days are just a bonus.
To be healthy: eat well, exercise, and wash my hands. =)
I've decided to start trying to take a Zumba class 3 or 4 times a week. My goal is for 4 times, but I'll be happy with 3. I tried my first Zumba class a few months ago and liked it. I wore a heart monitor that counts calories one class and burned 1000 in the one hour class. That's insane! I know that to burn fat you must do cardio, and I think that Zumba is great cardio, a huge calorie burner, and is fun. The fun dance aspect of it keeps me moving even if I feel like quiting, and I'm dripping sweat after the first 15 minutes (gross, but health). I will also toss in a belly dance class here and there. There's a class that I take every other Tuesday, and another no Sundays.
I've been pretty good the past few days! I tried out my new gym membership yesterday. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill and actually jogged 7 of those minutes. I don't jog...so that was good for me. Today I went to my nice gym and took a belly dance class.
The new gym is not 1/4 as nice, and they play loud, annoying music thoughout the club, but it's ok for days when I just want to hit the treadmill really quick.
I went shopping for healthy food yesterday. I got lots of veggies, fruits, and lean protiens.
I picked up the new Wii fitness game by Golds Gym. I got it because I wanted more cardio and "cardio" was in the title. They should have named this game "Golds Gym Boxing" because it appears to be just that. I've only used it once, and maybe as your progress it opens up different activities. I like the boxing just fine, but I had wanted a bit of variety. I did 30 minutes on the Golds game and then 15 on the Jillian Michaels Game. That is probably how I'll use my Wii exercise games. I'm getting the new one, EA Sports Active when it comes out next month. I'll have four games to bounce between. I'm sure I can get a great workout doing 15 minutes each as long as I keep jogging in place while I change the game CDs.

I'm going to attend a class at noon and then two classes this evening. They happen to be a few blocks away from each other.
I got my new gym membership yesterday and tried out my new Jillian Michaels Wii game for 35 minutes of cardio. today I plan to work on my Master's Thesis, do a little spring cleaning, and dance, dance, dance!
I did OK at the family dinner yesterday. I had small portions of ham and potato salad. I did eat 2 rolls and some cookies, but I passed on the 2 kinds of pie and ice cream.....so it wasn't that bad. I'd normally have eaten seconds on the dinner, had the cookies, had a piece of both pies, and would have put ice cream on the apple pie. I think that I did pretty well.
Getting rid of an excuse:
Today I'm heading to the gym close to my house and am going to get a one year membership. That way I'll have a close place to go so that the "I don't feel like driving 25 minutes there." excuse that I use now is shot down. I'll keep my current gym membership, but having the second gym membership will be good for those days when I don't feel like the hour round-trip drive. Sometime I just want to use the treadmill and don't want the hour, round-trip drive involved. But my current gym is 10 times nicer, has TVs on most machines, belly dance classes, and zumba classes. When I'm up for the drive it's great!
