43 minutes
I broke a new record for my 5K yesterday at 43 min. For those of you who run you'll recognize that my time is still extremely s...l...o...w but for me watching that number go down as I get just a little bit faster makes me feel wildly successful. When I first started six weeks ago, I was averaging about 55 min for 5K. My goal is 36 min but I'm in no rush to get there. When I've pushed myself too hard in the past, I end up not reaching my goal. I'm taking the path of the turtle this time .. slowly but surely.

Congratulations!
Definately take your time with the 5k speed! At least thats my experience. In the past I would push my self for a particular time and distance and Id end up being miserable and dreading the run each time I went out. Eventually I just quit running. This time I took it really slow. I didnt really set any distance goals for a while, just doing anything was something. Then I started with the C25k plan and even repeated a couple of weeks when it got tough. Now I've just started consistently running 3 miles but I still havent even taken a watch with me. Even still Im super proud of myself for just making it that far w/o giving up! You should be too! It's got to feel great watching your time get better and better!
