A question...

I forgot to ask this with my last post. My BF and I recently moved to a small town where we don't know anyone and there isn't really much to do except go to the bar- and with him being a teacher, that isn't a great option. Usually on a weekend night we might drive about 30 miles and go to a movie and out to dinner. Unfortunately dinner usually involves wine, appetizers, pasta... waaaayyyyyy too many calories. I want to find things we can do at night that get us out of the house and are fun, and where we can maybe have a couple of drinks. Does anyone have any ideas of fun stuff to do on weekend nights? What do you all do for fun that doesn't involve thousands of calories? Thanks for the advice!!!

Bike riding.

Ok, yeah, it's a little "Brady Bunch" but I have 4 kids and can't afford a babysitter, so our excursions are never really very adult.  (The only drink or two we ever have is on Saturday afternoons when we barbecue - because I think it is against the law in Texas to stand next to a hot barbecue pit without a cold one in your left hand).  Most nice evenings after we've done our chores and had dinner, we throw the bikes in the back of the truck and go to the park because the track there is safer for the kids than the road.

On looooong summer evenings we like to take the kids to the river so the kids and I can swim and dad throws a line in for fish.  We pack some sandwiches and watermelon slices.

Before we had any kids we liked to just walk around our little town together - loooong walks, and since it was a small town, we usually ended up hanging over somebody's front fence, listening to them gossiping about the neighbors, then the neighbors would come outside and everybody would be all sweetness and light.  It was hilarous.
