Before After

My First Step

I have yet to call my JC center to make an appointment.....I am still deciding between my old center and a newer one in the SAME shopping center as my gym.  Also, being so analytical as I am, I'm still trying to figure out which day will work best for me.

As I come to terms with being a serial yo-yo'er, I acknowledge that I have issues relating to food (lol) and I am going to not only adopt a healthly lifestyle and eating plan, but I am also going to seek out counseling on this issue.  Something I have wanted to do for a long time, but never made time for - others who are caretakers will understand this - putting everyone else's needs before mine.

The Renfrew Center is a well known facility that treats all sorts of eating disorders and issues....and they are about 5 minutes from where I live.  I called my insurance and I almost cannot believe it, but they are covered....and the first 6 visits are free, then just a $15 copay after that.  This is a scary, yet exciting step, but my FIRST step is going to be to make an appointment, and start getting MYSELF the help I need!

Has anyone else sought out counseling to help deal with food issues?

Comments to this post:

no i havent sought counseling

I have heard that hypnotherapy works, there is a woman in my area who does hypnotherapy to help people with all kinds of issues like smoking cessation and eating better and various other things like helping people deal with stress. I honestly think most people have a hard time with food cuz it's so natural to want to eat cuz it helps keep us alive. Scientists have proven that our brains are hardwired for pleasure and food brings pleasure for most people.

Awesome!

What a great idea to seek counseling in conjunction with the other healthy changes! I never thought to do this... I really should though. I am sure I could totally benefit from it. Is there an affiliate on Long Island that you are aware of? I'm so happy for you!! What a huge step in the right direction!
