Ok, so, yeah, I fell off again.Shoot.It is.so.hard.Good habits are so HARD to make and so EASY to break! So, I missed 2 WI’s this week and last.I have been eating out way too many times and last week I missed all of my spin classes.
Granted, I have a lot going on in my life right now.The good is that I was able to negotiate more $$ from the company that made me a great job offer. Then at the last minute, I had 2 large pharmaceutical companies who wanted to interview me and make a quick decision.I decided not to go with one of them and the other is still up in the air.SO, I have been living in a state of flux, not really knowing where my next job would be, only that it would start on the 26th!I gave notice to my current employer on the 5th and finish work next Tuesday then head to Vegas with a girlfriend for 3 days – FUN!
At this point, I accepted the 1st offer – its with a great company and I’ll have great advancement potential so I am thrilled. One major factor is that this job will require a pretty significant amount of travel – 30-50%!I think that this will be a great change for a while, I really enjoy travel, but it will definitely force changes to my work out and eating habits.
I’d love to hear from others who travel regularly for work – how do you make it work for you? Challenges? Tips?
I guess I’ve just had so much on my plate lately, between the new job and being worked to death on the old job, that I haven’t quite had the energy to devote to JC – POOR EXCUSE but, as I’ve been saying often lately, “It is what it is”.
Overall, I am still in a pretty good place mentally, I’m not beating myself up or discouraged….its more of being aware that it IS easy to slip into bad habits and knowing how hard I have worked and trying to find balance.
Thanks to those who have checked in on me and hope everyone is doing well!

That's Great!
I knew that all these people would come clamoring after you!! Doesn't it feel wonderful to have several companies wanting you as part of their team?! Fantastic! And you get to go to Vegas and wear your cool jeans too!! Life does not get much better than that! Sorry that I don't have any work-travel tips for ya, since you know what I do for a living. Hope you are enjoying life and do get a spin class in here or there- you know you feel better when you are doing them! Cherish every day!! You are awesome! Look at how far you've come!!
Exciting you have so many offers. That's really super. Of course, you look great.
When my boss does (who is healthy and slender) when she travels (5 days of each 7) is she is stocked with healthy energy bars. All of her meals other than that are straight vegetable meals, whether salads or vegetarian type dinners. Everytime she heads in and out of the airport, she buys 3 bottles of water to drag along with her each way. Hope that helps.
Sounds like it's been an exciting time for you too having a bidding war over your services. That has to feel good! I've taken the plunge and added spinning to my gym membership. It's a good addition, but definitely not my first love :) Excuse or not, I think you have had more to be mindful of lately rather than just your weight. The dust will settle and you will get there!
On the new job - sounds like everyone wanted you!! What a great (and confusing) feeling that must be!!! Are you staying in HR?
I dont travel for business (for pleasure only) so I dont have much to offer. But if you can, when at hotels, maybe try to get a workout in. It will help relieve stress also (but I am sure none of us have any of that).
Just try to take all that you have learned from JC in the past 61 weeks and use it. I am sure that you have picked up some great habits, just keep reminding yourself of them (in a positive way).
Have a great time in Vegas!!!
...but your right, it is what it is. You are not expected to be perfect--no one is! It sounds like you are still in a good place, and should be able to get right back on the wagon with a good push. Just do the best you can, and you will get back there.
I have never had to travel for work so I can't relate to that. I would think it would be fun at first and then very tiring, not to mention hard to have a decent family life. If I were in my 20's and single I would TOTALLY have done it!
Hi-- I just came across your blog and we have so much in common on the weight front. Did JC back in January 2007 and lost 18 pounds (from 174.5 start at 5'4). Then put it all back on. Ugh. My husband is also supportive, but he just can't do it for me...
Here's how I'm remotivating: I've decided to do a 6 week "Boot Camp" reinitation to Jenny Craig. That program works if you work it, no doubt.
I looked at my calendar to see that there is really nothing 'event like (barring Halloween and my upcoming 37th B-day) that I MUST eat at. Therefore: I am spending 6 weeks in the hopes of dropping 12 pounds prior to a beach vacation we're going on.
After words, I'll attack the next 12 pounds from another angle to get excited about... join me if you need a kick in the pants. I'm working it!!!
