Before After

One more pound down

I suppose I should be happy, but can I just admit how disappointed I am with one pound?  I was SO good this week and I exercised very hard. I was sure it was going to be 1.5 or more....my scale at home had indicated maybe even 2 pounds (though as indicated before, hardly reliable anymore)!  Somehow I gained a pound on the ten minute drive over.  I'm kinda bummed out!

Reality check: on average, I lose 1.2 pounds per week...that's AVERAGE.  Last week I lost 1.4....So, really 1 pound is about right.  And, I only needed 0.4 to do this:

  • 185 (-0.7 from 185.7): Back to my lowest adult weight ever; Measurement time!

I measured myself and I've lost a grand total of 4 inches from various places on my body including my hips (-1) my belly (-1) and neck, arm, and thigh since the last measurement.  And that was only five pound ago!

Alright time to go run errands and hit up the Farmer's Market. Have wonderful weekends, all!

P.S. Did I mention that our V-day celebration is on Sunday and DBF is taking me to Michael Mina, a *very* swanky restaurant!! EEeeee!!!  VERY excited.

M's blanket

Here's the picture of my first quilt. Being held up my M's mom (one of my best friends) at M's 1st birthday party.

It's a bit blurry, but I think you can see that it turned out pretty well!  Unfortunately that's not the birthday girl at the bottom, but she's still a cutie pie!

Fitness Goals this week:

  • Monday: Run 8 miles. Done!  Finished in 78 minutes
  • Tuesday AM: Bike for 25 minutes. Lift weights 3X12 reps
  • Tuesday PM: Run 2 miles with the girls
  • Wednesday: Bike 45 minutes
  • Thursday: 4 mile pace run TBD.
  • Friday: Warm up 1.25 miles; lift 3x12 reps; Hill run 1.75 miles

Good luck everyone on a successful week!

Edit (02/07/2008): I have made it through my pace run.  I did 6 400m sprints.  I stopped after the third one for 2 minutes, then stopped after the 5th one (landed me at 3 miles in 27 minutes).  I biked for 10 minutes then went back and finished my last mile.  I did one more 1/4 mile sprint and finished the mile in 8:40!  That's a really fast mile for me so I am very proud of myself.  YAY!!  One more workout left and the week is over. Hello weekend!

Mini goal progress

WI was pretty good -- down 1.6.  I was thinking about my mini goals, seeing as now I'm more than half way to my goal.  I've added some from the first time as I thought of some different milestones.

  • 191 (-1.2 from now): 1/3 of the way! Achieved 12/01/2007
  • 190: Take measurement Acheived 01/12/2008
  • 189 (-2 from 191): Only 20 lbs left. A very psychological thing for me.   Acheived 01/12/2008
  • 187.4: (-1.6 from 189) 15 pound lost mark.  Acheived 01/26/2008
  • 185.7 (-1.7 from 187.4) 1/2 of the way!    Acheived today! 02/02/2008
  • 185 (-0.7 from 185.7): Back to my lowest adult weight ever; Measurement time!
  • 182.4 (-2.6 from 185): WW 10% since rejoining on 09/23
  • 180 (-2.4 from 182.4): 2/3 of the way! Time to take another measurement.
  • 179 (-1 from 180): Out of 180's only 10 pounds to go, another big psychological thing
  • 177.4 (-1.6 from 179): 3/4 of the way! 25 pounds lost!
  • 177 (-0.4 from 177.4): Officially "Healthy Weight" BMI!
  • 175: (-2 from 177): Measurement
  • 172.4 (-2.6 from 175): 30 pounds lost!
  • 170: BMI of 24 and only one more pound to goal!; last measurement before goal
  • 169 (-1 from 170): Holy crap, I'm at goal!!!

So definitely trucking along there!  I know it might seem silly to mark milestones that are so close together, but as I get closer to goal the milestones seem harder to come by.  I garner a lot of motivation by seeing progress, even if it's small.  By making a big deal out of each pound lost I'm able to keep the momentum up so that I stay focused and remain successful.

I should be able to hit the next milestone next week, which means I get to take my measurements again!  I'm excited  about it because I'm really starting to see some tone to my body and I know that will translate to inches lost.  Heck ya!

Well, the blanket turned out beautifully.  I only had to stay up till eleven to finish it!  The first quilt I ever made.  It's only tied-on, using buttons, but I still think it's remarkable.  I took a couple pictures and once I get them uploaded I'll post it here.

TIme to get ready.  Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

  • Finish Strong

That's what they tell you to do at the end of a race: When you see the finish line, sprint!  Finish Strong.  So, this week I tried to do that.  This morning I was sore from my run yesterday and I've been increasingly annoyed at work these days (so in a bad mood about even showing up, which is bad).  I knew what I had to do today -- and I knew it was going to be really hard.  But I saw the finish line (the weekend) and I decided to Finish Strong.

I did my warm up 1.27 miles in 12 minutes.  Lifted weights and started doing my arm exercises, the ones with dumb bells anyway, on the bosu ball so that I can get some extra core work in.  I pushed through every set really isolating muscles.  I finished the workout by doing the Hill program on level 5.  I ran 6.0 for most of the inclines, all flat parts and some low incline at 6.4.  So I finished 1.75 miles in 17 minutes.

Tonight I am going to finish M's quilt (hopefully, as her party is tomorrow!!).  Tomorrow morning is weigh in and errands, birthday party and then home to do chores and cook.  My mom might visit this weekend which would be nice.  Although, if I did absolutely nothing on Sunday, that would be just fine with me.

Hope everyone has a great day and weekend!

    Thursday

Today I had the best run. Ever. I'm a little jello-legged now, but I really pushed through my pace run today.  Here's the exercise schedule from this week:

    • Monday: Run 6 miles (57ish minutes)
    • Tuesday AM: Lift 12 reps x 3 sets; run 2 miles.  I did the warm up run at 9:30 and then after lifting I ran the last mile in 8:56.
    • Tuesday PM: Biked 25 minutes (while watching American Idol auditions -- the audtions are the best part!)
    • Wednesday: Biked 25 minutes.  Was going to bike 20 minutes in the evening but I ended up having too much to do and was in the middle of pitching a fit with my DBF and couldn't be bothered.
    • Thursday: 4 mile Pace run:-- Warm up 1.12 miles--Sprint 400m, recover 200 (sprinted at 7.5 mph)--Sprint 1 mile, recover 400m (sprinted half at 7.5 and the other half at 7.6)--Sprint 400m, recover 200m. --Finish to 4 miles.  Finished in 36:20 ~9:05 without stopping once!
    • Friday: Run 1.25 mile warm up. Lift 12 reps X 3 sets.  Run hill program for 1.75 miles.

Then the weekend begins!! Hooorah!  i'm almost done with the quilt for my GD, which I'm excited about.  It will be something she can have forever. And Sunday I get to hang out with my mom! Yippee!!  Haven't seen her since before New Years -- that's just too long.

I'm hoping WI goes well.  I peeked at the scale and I think I'm down. However, the week isn't over and I have to avoid some cake today at a baby shower. I also had a couple glasses of wine last night (though I had enough points for them, I try not to drink too much during the week because I retain so much water afterwards), so I'm trying to be stringently OP for the rest of the week.  I'll tell you what though, I've been craving enchiladas, chinese food, chocolate cake, and fried anything like crazy.  I don't usually have cravings, but perhaps this weekend I'm going to need to indulge my cravings a *little* bit so I don't end up eating an entire carton of chow mein! Ack!

    Have a great day, all.

    The modelz -- so funny!

    It's a new week!

Well, I did it....just barely, but I'm not complaining.  I hit my mini goal of 15 pounds this weekend.  I treated myself to a shopping spree at Ross.  I got 4 dresses for $45!  I was stoked.

I have to admit my weigh in was a little neurotic.  I think I went to the bathroom three times before I stepped on the scale.  I didn't eat breakfast and I wouldn't drink anything just so that it would be as low as I could get it.  This morning I saw this comic and thought "That's SO me!"

So, this week will be better.  The only drag is that my cool HR monitor is on the fritz so I'll have to get it fixed.  I ran six miles this morning and I'm all set for another good week of workouts.

Over the weekend I went on a lovely date with DBF in one of my new dresses.  We went to the symphony and had a nice dinner out.  Such a treat!  This upcoming week I have quite a few projects to get through. My God daughter's first birthday is over the weekend and I have to get her quilt finished.  Also need to focus on my next mini goal: 1.3 pounds from here.  Hopefully I'll hit it this weekend!  Gotta stay OP all week and stay really focused with my workouts.  Ready, set, go!

    J

    Friday! Hot damn!

So, made it through the week, head cold and all.  Didn't miss a workout, but still feel swollen.  Thankfully I think this cold is just about over....a few minor reminders, but mostly I feel much better.

Today I finished off the workouts with my 3 mile run which I break into two parts and do my lift in the middle.  I did 1.25 miles in 12 minutes, did a small cool down and then lifted 12 reps, 3 sets.  It was super hard.  I actually added an arm exercise that I used to do a lot and really like, but it was a toughey!  Then I finished my run 1.75 in 17:30.  I did the Hill program and stayed at 6.0 mph the whole time -- even at 4.5% incline!  My HR monitor said I burned 929 calories, 511 from fat.  My max HR was 176 (86%) and my average was 140 (68%).

    Totals for the week:
OP: Bad on Sunday and Monday, but OP the rest of the week.  Even managed to not eat my activity points!

    Exercise: Completely on schedule (even with cold).   Duration Calories Calories from Fat Max HR% Ave. HR% Monday 1:28:33 1319 527.6 87 74 Tuesday AM 0:59:31 612 336.6 82 61 Tuesday PM 0:25:14 117 70.2 57 47 Wednesday 0:45:03 473 260.1 85 60 Thursday 0:47:48 753 301.2 89 76 Friday 1:11:18 929 511 86 68 Sum 5:37:27 4203 2007     Average       81 64

Sadly, TOM is going to get the better of me this WI, I think....so, hopefully all this work will show up NEXT weekend. One can only hope....

Have a great weekend all!  Stay dry!!

    I feel like crap!

I have a minor head cold, but dang, I hate feeling sick!  I have so much pressure in my sinuses and my poor body feels like a punching bag.  Miraculously, though, I still want to work out and feel *better* when I do.  Maybe my body temperature goes up and melts all the mucous away.    I read that if you feel well enough to keep exercising then you should, but to pay close attention to your body and heed its clues (i.e. dizziness, shortness of breath, prolonged soreness, etc.).  I didn't have any of those problems, so I've stayed on schedule. At any rate, I'm done with this cold now so it's just gonna have to be on its way soon.

Wednesday I did 45 minutes of moderate biking (not too strenuous....trying to give my body a break).  My HR monitor said I burned 473 calories, 55% fat.  My Max HR was 155 (75%) and my average HR was 124 (60%).

This morning I did my pace run:

    • Warm up for 1.37
    • Sprint 400m; recover 200m
    • Sprint 800m -- took a small break
    • "Recover" 400m
    • Sprint 1200m -- recover 400m
    • Run 1/2 mile easy

I finished in 37:40, not including the break.  Then cooled down for five minutes.  Today my HR monitor said 753 calories, 40% fat. Max HR 183 (89%) and average HR 156 (76%).

So between today and yesterday I've burned 1226 calories, 561.4 "fat calories."  Even after all of that exercising and staying OP, I feel extremely blimpy.  TOM is on the way and I can tell I'm swollen.  I don't usually have PMS too badly (thanks Ortho-lo!), but this week I know I've got some extra tonnage.  So my head hurts, I feel fat, and I'm cranky.  Lovely.  I'm sure I'm wonderful to be around right now.....

There isn't a vat of chocolate big enough to cheer me up today.
