I want to cry...
I took the bandages off from my surgery and when i did I seriously looked in the mirror and was just shocked. I know that it is bruised and will fade a bit, but really, it is HUGE and gnarly and ugly and right on my neck where everyone can see it. I just don't think I was expecting it. Before the surgery he said it was only going to be 3/4 of an inch, but since the tumor grew, when they got in there, they had to widen the incision so they could cut that sucker out of there. It's a little less then 2 inches now. I mean, I am so grateful I had the surgery, especially now that I know how much it was affecting my metabolism, but I am just really bummed right now.

Aw, don't cry!
Just think of the positive that scar represents. You will heal and be all the better for it. Take care of yourself and go ahead and smile. You are beautiful!

Fade
I know it must be hard to see the scar for the first few times, but it will fade before you know it. If you go outside in the Sun put sunscreen on the scar so it won't tan darker than your other skin. (scars tan much darker than people relize)

Sorry...
Talk to your dr......there's all kinds of things out now that can help heal scars....creams and such. Plus proper care of it while it's healing will help too. (((hugs)))

I know it doesn't seem like it now, but it WILL fade away. ((((hugs))))
I haven't used it, but have you ever seen the commercial for Mederma? It is supposed to help with scars. (I should use it on my belly. wonder if they sell it by the gallon?)
Take care!

scars
After my breast reduction, my doctor gave me this sheet of silicone gell that is supposed to reduce scarring. It really helped a lot!! I'm sorry its bigger than you thought, but what great news that you had the tumor removed and that it was affecting your metabolism!! I think I keep hoping thats what my problem is, but so far my thyroid tests all come back fine! I do think one day I'll get thyroid disease since it runs in both sides of my family.
Feel better soon! The scar will fade before you know it!!

Hang in there
!
I hope you recover fast.
Thanks you for stopping by to encourage me. I really appreciate it. I have been trying to do BFL this year but haven't had the chance to get photos. I was going to do it with Alicia but......No pics. Either way with or without the BFL contest I will get back in shape.
You can do this.I know emotional eating is hard to combat. I love fitness but eating right and controlled portions has always been my downfall. I started emotional eating when my X husband would physically abuse me. It was my comfort. I have been remarried for almost 8 years to a wonderful man and still struggle.Again hang in there. You can do this

My fair share
I never lead the most "safe" of teenage years, I can tell you that scars will help you, and after a while, you will not notice anymore, it will become part of you. Just think about what you are going through now, and use the scar as a mental reminder (when you think about it) about how far you have come and where you will go.
Keep up the BFL lifestyle, I hope that you are succeeding, and it would be great to hear about how far you have come from the start of the program.
Good luck to you,
Steve(SoF)
