I pledge...

...to stop drinking soft drinks. I am going to make myself make the switch to water. Its not good for me so its got to go. I do however state now, that IF I go out  to a restaurant/bar/pub, then I probably WILL order a d.coke, as a treat....JUST SO YOU KNOW NOW AND DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT THE TIME!! OK??!!

Todays exercise:

Today I have:

walked/jogged/run 5 kilometers. I walked the first mile, then jogged the second. Then I walked for 0.5 mile, then jogged the lat 0.6 mile to make up the 5K. On the last bit though, I upped the speed to 5.5mph to start stretching myself.

rowed 3 kilometers. I did a good time today too, under 17 minutes.

elliptical 15 minutes. I did3 sets of 5, forward, back and forward.

ab crunches 200. I did 4 sets of 50 followed by cool down stretching.

rethinking the diet

yep. I really need to get my head around this. If  I don't start eating properly, then why am I still going to the gym?

yes, I know its still making me healthier overall, but if I am not going to make the most of it........

maybe Ishould take a new approach. I have been thinking about calorie counting. It would be something different to old weight watchers, which as I know inside out, is a little boring now. I have found a site with all the calorific values of basic foods, and I have my food journal I used for WW. Maybe I'll give it a go.

today at the gym

..I calibrated my nike AGAIN! I jogged a mile outside, so lets see if it works this time. Then I went back indoors and rowed 3k, then went on the treadmill for 2.1 miles to make up my 5k. That was at my wm pace and level. Then I went on the eliptical for 15 minutes, 3 forward, 3 back, 3 forward, 3 back and 3 forward. Then I did 100 ab crunches on the mat. So I did pretty well today. I met the new instructor today, she is nice, very young though.

good gym bad food

suprise suprise! The diet didn't stick around long! I had a good day at the gym today though. I did 5k on the treadmill, of which I jogged for 1 mile and did my weight management for the rest of it. Then I did a great 3k on the rower. It was good as I could feel my stomach muscles working which was a new one, and I did a good steady pace. I seem to have gotten to a new era in my exercise this week, maybe I am more relaxed about it, no scrap that, I have realised that I can do this and I want to get better and better at this.

not digging this....

...new gym regime. The walking on the treadmill is ok, but boring, and the eliptical is just dire. I am going so slow! I can't stand it! I actually gave up on the eliptical this morning and sped up to my normal speed. I just don't think I am ready for this. I think I am going to just go back to my normal routine. I'll do treadmill/road jogging then a bit of rowing, eliptical and cycling. I'll see if I can get my instructor to show me some of the weights at some point too.

The diet started today. I have planned what I am having for dinner, sea bream with salad and potatoes. Let see if I can stick to it this time. Its not long until my holiday, maybe that should be my target, afterall I will be in a swimming costume next to my stick insect of a sister!

New gym regime

I had a chat with my instructor today, and I now know I have to keep my heart rate at around 124bpm to burn the most fat.  So, I got on the treadmill and the eliptical today and recorded what speeds I was at when the monitor said I was at it. The only one I cant really use it on is the rower, but I guess I'll just keep on going as usual with that one.

I am going to alternate my regime with jogging as I don't want to lose what I have achieved so far. Far from it, I want to improve on it!

A HUGE btw, I am going to restart the diet. I have to admit though, it might not be today as I want to make rice krispie cakes today...naughty, naughty!

I did it!!!!!!!!

I have officially run my first race!

I have officially run my first 5k!

I loved it!

I had fun, the weather was perfect, sunny with a few clouds and I and looking for the next one!

I had a time of 32.24 which was amazing. I wasn't expecting much, as long as I didn't have to crawl over the finish line I wasn't bothered. I did not walk, I did not stop, I just kept plugging along at a steady pace. It was agreat atmospere.

I need to find a course at home now, its much better doing a circuit than repeating laps of the driveway at Prested Hall.

big day tomorrow!

...yes indeedy! It the Race for Life at 11am!!!

I am not too nervous, quite excited actually. I just sorted out my music and charged my ipod. I just need to fill my water bottles and get my gear on!

I am a bit concerned though, its just started raining...although the weather report is supposed to be good.....oh my lordy! I've never run in the rain!

I just need to vent for a second. Arrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh! Why won't people  sponssor me? I am doing the Race for Life on Sunday, and I have sent out emails to just about everyone I know, and I have only had a handful of replies!

Am I just a horrible person and no one wants to help me? Or is everyone so tight that they wont give just a couple of pounds to charity?
