First 2 weeks

The first week I only ran 1 minute and walked 2 minutes for about 30 minutes, but it was still tough because my course starts at the bottom of a mild incline.  I was proud that I was able to do 2 and 2 starting week two, but I did 2 sessions at my sister's local park which was even.  After working a 12 hour tour that was fairly slow, I came home, walked the dog and rushed back out the door.  I wanted to get the session in before it got too dark, but it got too dark anyway, I couldn't read my watch and it was really tough, I was huffing and puffing but proud that I did it.  Hopefully in June my shifts will start and hour later so I can get the session in in the morning on the days I go into work.

Day 2

I did it..ran 27 minutes this time...well run/walk..I was a little crankier with my dog Shanti...but we get through it...I stretched pre and post and stayed five minutes on my bat table...but now my back is hurting..this afternoon, I need to come home and try and get some Yoga done

First day

My first day running went better than I expected.  I hadn't really "trained" my dog to heel properly yet...I usually just let her go on hikes to have fun,, she always stays with me, she is a good shadow dog.  But I can't do the program and supervise her at the same time...when I see people on trails with kids, dogs, or on bikes, I usually tell her to stay, leash her...can't do that when I am running so she has to run with me.

So I put her leash around my waist and off we went.  She was a very willing partner and got the idea quickly...no stopping to smell the dirt.  My first assignment was to walk for 2 minutes and run for 1...back and forth for 36 minutes or 12 times.  I found that after the first minute of huffing and puffing, the intermittent walk of 2 minutes was enough to help me recover and I was no longer "huffing and puffing" through the 1 minute run after about the first 3 repititions.  Shanti, (my dog) started trying to walk faster than me during the walk sequences...She's already way ahead of me...We had a good time and I felt really proud that we DID IT!  Next session is Tuesday..se you then..J

Long time no see

Well...it happened again...after about 12 weeks on Weight Watchers, I stopped losing weight...I have been fatigued as all get out, my skin is dry my hair is falling out...all the symptoms of low thyroid, but I'm sure my blood tests will come out normal..I have to face it..my metabolism has been destroyed by constant dieting up and down up and down.  So now I am trying a new tact...making it very simple, more fruits and vegetables, lean meats fish, nuts and seeds, decrease the processed foods and start a running program...I'm going to keep my blog here for the running thing...since the the begininning program I started suggests keeping a log..or journal...I am running with my dog, who also needs to keep her weight down due to hip dysplasia (bad hip dysplasia)...so far she is moving faster than I am...hope everyone else is doing fine...talk to you later...J

Seven weeks

Hey I'm still here, still working on it and went back down the 2 lbs. I gained back..I have been having a rebound hunger issue the last 2 weeks and have not been able to stay within the parameters of my diet...but today begins a new week on WW where I can wipe the slate clean...I, of course, have already reached the "plateau"...six pounds and my body doesn't want to move any further...then the rebound hunger begins and before I know it,,,I'm totally off my diet... but I REFUSE to give up!...I have a new schedule at work and need to create a better exersise regimen that will help me stay regular in my exersise...when I do both the pounds can come dripping off of me...As a paramedic I see what overeating and lack of exersise does to my patients when they reach middle age and their senior years...they suffer with diabetes, lack of circulation, hypertension, cardiac disease and breathing disorders...they have to sleep sitting up with a machine that pushes the air into their lungs because their bodies are so big they crush themselves when they lie down.. so I am not going to be that way!...I'll get back to you with an exersise plan that will work for my current schedule...June

Five weeks

Didn't do so well this week...Christmas party and very depressed over work problems...started eating more, and indulged in too much restaurant foods...gained 2 pounds...Also did not exersise much...walked dog, some yoga..back on track this week...

4 weeks and counting!

Still counting up points...feeling better...down another pound, but I'd like to be more active...I'm really depressed lately..trouble on the job, I'm always afraid of being fired...but I'm staying away from the candies pretty well...

Two weeks and counting

I haven't seen 180 in quite a long time...I'm glad I'm off and running on WW again, w/o too much hunger...snacking all through the day helps to keep the quantity of my meals down.

A whole week

Wow...I lasted an entire week on WW without going off it...I wrote down everything I ate...worked out three times and continued to walk my dog...lost 2 lbs...feel better already...not quite squeezing into my uniform so tightly...but I still have a long way to go...I am on the second day of my second week...I have started WW about 50 times in the past 2 years and have lasted about a day or two, before I quit...it's hard being in EMS...you sit in an ambulance all day and if you don't bring your food, you have no choice but to eat at delis, pizzerias, and chinese places..it's amazing the difference in the fat and calorie content of the food I eat when I am not on WW and when I am watching and counting points.

I have 24 points a day, plus and extra 35 points a week...I looked at a Mrs. Smiths apple pie the other day and saw that the point content of ONE SLICE was off the chart for an entire day on WW...more than 24 points...ONE SLICE!

I also tend to overeat my meals and stuff myself when I am not on WW, and actually stop when I am full when I am...

I always called myself a lifer on WW...because the first time I lost was in 1981, I was 25 years old and went from 155 to 136 and kept it off for six weeks and became a lifetime member...never had to pay a registration fee again, and only had to check in once a month.

My goal now is to be 155 again...back then I thought I was fat,,,now I would look skinny!

2 whole days

wow...I got through 2 days of WW without cheating (too much)...looks like I lost a pound but I don't really believe it...I also managed to exersise for 2 days in a row...The Firm videos are excellent I haven't done them in ages...

Let's keep up the good work, June
