We moved from North Carolina to coastal Mississippi. So far we really like it here, and look forward to the next few years here. As much as I love it, I keep thinking in the back of my mind "don't like it too much, you're out of here in 3 years!" But thus is the life a Marine family, right. Anywho-so I'm here and all moved in and ready to get back on track. Lets just say the past 3 weeks have NOT been good for the diet plan. It was easier to just stop by Burger King while driving, or packing and unpacking then to come up with healthier meals. Atleat all the heavy lifting and stairs kept me somewhat active. Oh, and that's another thing. I miss my gym! I've seen one on base here, but only one. I haven't ventured out to it yet, but that is one of my goals for this week. Our neighborhood here is large and "walker friendly" so I'm thinking I'll get into outdoor walking more then just the treadmill. My kitchen I LOVE so I'm willing to spend the extra time to cook good meals. I really excited about summer coming and working with my garden. I already have some veggies and herbs planted, once it warms up some I plan on planting even more!
Comments(0) 287859 Saturday, December 1, 2007 22:00:09 The Good Life... http://www.extrapounds.com/blog/jodielynn/comments/263875/the-good-life
Today was pretty good. I had wanted to wake up early and get to the gym this morning, but I got a late start. I did manage to eat a banana before I left. I did one mile on the eliptical and 30 minutes of belly dancing. I am really, really liking the belly dancing. It feels good to stretch all those muscles. My only slip up was a couple of cookies around 3 this afternoon. However I only had about 3 and then put the box away. It really is an improvment over the "old me" when I would have just eaten the box and then regretted it. And that is what this is all about, right? Making changes I can stick with. I feel like I am getting stronger with each good choice I make. And I've started to think about what is good for my body, and what benefits my health more then just what is low in points. My ultimate goal is to manage my PCOS naturally without any medications. I don't take any right now, but I could really manage it better if I tried.

Today was a good day all the way around too because we found out that we have a house in Gulfport, now! We've been on the waiting list for base housing there and this morning when I checked we were numer 21. Then around lunch a lady called and offered us a house! 25 days!!! I am really excited about moving and being closer to my parents. And the fact that DH is nondeployable is icing on the cake. DH isn't too thrilled, but I am happy to be settling down. 2 back to back deployments make life a little hectic, so calmign down seems like a dream. A new body image and healthly lifestyle go great with a new home and new city. I think that's what makes this time so important to me. If ever there was good timing, it's now.
Comments(0) 263875 Friday, November 30, 2007 23:00:20 A journey of a million miles http://www.extrapounds.com/blog/jodielynn/comments/263170/a-journey-of-a-million-miles
or a million pounds, which ever. This is my first blog so I thought I'd just write (or type) down my goals for 2008 so that they are "real" and I am accountable for them!

1. Loss 65 pounds by Christmas 2008. Sounds like a lot but it's only 5.5 a month, and less then 1.5 a week.

2. Run a 5K by 2009. This one is HUGE for me and I am really, really excited about getting started. I am using the "Couch to 5K" 9 week program.

3. Have a BMI of 25 or less and a waist size of 35" or less.

Ok, so here I am this Christmas....my "before" pic.

Comments(1) 263170 Saturday, December 1, 2007 00:09:22
