Just checkin in

I haven't written for a long while. Major depression, Things are slowly getting better (I hope) But the weight lost is going OK ( That's something). Have a great summer you all.

2 lbs lighter but still I have to put in more effort.

I can't believe that I've managed to lose 2 lbs with all the junk I've eaten in the past week (still a lot less than before mind you). But I am really determined to stay on track even if sometimes I cheat a bit. But like I said before, it's not a diet...it's eating better.  Hopefully once the weather gets any nicer I'll walk more, take out the bike. For now, helping for my goddaughter's skating club annual show takes most of my free time. In other news,  I'm really hoping to get that job in the entertainement industry I'm aiming for. I'd finally be promoting a product I love...music.

A good day to all!                               ...et Bonjour à toi!

What a rough week!

I haven't written anything for a little while.

Here are the updates on how my "diet" (god, I hate that word...let's call it "resolution") is going.: In the end, I didn't go out all week-end, I caught a flu/cold bug that instantly made me very miserable but that hopefully I'm getting over just now. SO no worries about too much food/beer temptation over the week-end. However, I did have a craving for Poutine that I couldn't ignore on tuesday night. (For US readers: Poutine is a Quebec delicacy comprising of french fries with bbq style gravy, topped off with cheese curds...I could just hear Homer Simpson going " mmm...Poutine"). So, not good for the di...er...resolution. Then last night at that szechuan place I ordered a non-fried chicken mandarin...so it was going ok, untill I finished my wife's ginger beef and the fried banana. But I am getting back on track. I absolutely want to lead a healthier life.

1st Test...Going out Friday night

Dan, my bro'in law called. We're going out on the town friday night. That'll be a challenge. Of course I'll drink...duh. But it's the food I'm really worried about. Downtown Montreal overflows with tasty but fatty food. Hopefully, I'll be able to talk him into asian or someplace where They have great salad (any other options?).

I know what you are thinking: " well, buddy, the beer is high cal and high carb too". But for one night I can be on a Fat free diet and worry about the rest later no?

Made it 'tru the week-end!

I managed to stay on track during the week-end. Ok, I admit, there was no party at my house for a change and I didn't go at my bro's place. but still, I think I could have managed that. I just can't wait until the temp outside finally goes back up above  0 celcius (32F) so I can take more walks and eventually take out the bike. As soon as I get my stamina back, I'll join that Gym.

Vietnamese food rocks!

Had to eat out tonight.  For a moment I was afraid I might relapse (what already?) but nooo... Went to a Vietnamese place had the roasted chicken soup and a raw spring roll. mmmh dieting never tasted this good! Most of the menu was pretty healthy if you compare to Chinese or Szechuan. I gotta find out if sushi is also low cal (I know it's low fat, it's a start) cause that would be another tasty alternative.

Walking in the rain

I'm starting to love taking these 1hr walks with my daughter that today, we went even if it was raining. She even joined this site! Not that she has a lot of weight to lose, but she's embracing my new healthier resolutions as her own. Good for her. My calories intake is pretty consistent (at around 2400/day which is probably 3000 less than before) But I wonder is it enough? or too much? Should I weigh myself every day? or weekly? wonthly? Questions...Questions...

3 days

Three days into this. probably the longest I've ever been on a "diet" or whatever like it. The scale tells me I've lost 4 pounds already...makes sense...Just skipping my nightly ration of chips or Cheetos is enough to start losing weight. I gotta keep it up. I feel good about this.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Phew! I thought I would use this blog as a log for my food and activity only and no one would even know it existed. Now I REALLY have to stick to these new resolutions.  I am glad and wish to thank everyone who took the time to say Hi! I have a feeling that your own blogs will be my inspiration (along with the pounds I might be shedding along the way).

I don't have a pre-set plan nor diet, nor menu to follow (I probably wouldn't be able to stick to it) I filled my fridge with fresh fruits, veggies & lean meats, plan on walking, exercising (maybe even join a gym soon enough) and use the common sense that I seemed to ignore for so long.  I had besome THE ultimate couch potato and I want to go back to the fit, healthy and happy guy I was way before. I used to love working out, playing sports and all that but dropped my healthy lifestyle, got older, took a desk job and just..let...myself...go.  I feel I am back (well almost) ... Once again...thanks!

This is it!

Well, It's official. I am really doing it. Trying out clothes that never fit me yesterday made me realize how bad I've let myself go lately (If you can call years...lately). I want to do this for my health mostly, but also to feel better about myself and wear cool clothes!
