I LOVE the South Beach Diet

I have been going to Spectrum Health Club for a couple of years now and throughout that time I have just not lost any weight to speak of. I know it's mostly diet and not exercise that makes you lose weight but still...

So when my wife, daughter and I started this weight loss contest to see who could reach there goal of losing 20 lbs first I decided to use the Virgin Health Miles kiosk to monitor my progress because being digital and all I knew it was more accurate. I have been using it for months anyway but like I said, I never really lost much. My weight fluctuates between 203 and 197. I can never seem to get below 197.

Yesterday morning after my workout I did my first official weigh-in... 197.5, as expected. My Body Fat has never dropped below 29 and yesterday morning it was 29.8 as expected. My blood pressure was 103/76. It's always been good.

This morning I was anxious to see after only one day on the SBD if I would finally get below the dreaded 197.5 ... 7.5... 7.5 it seems I can never get below that.

As I stepped on the scale and pushed the button on the screen I was just focusing on those digits....

....

5.8

Ha. How cool is that?

I couldn't believe it but I didn't question it.

Next I thought to myself "Okay but the body fat couldn't have gone below 29, it never has".... 26.8 Cool.

"Yeah, but the blood pressure couldn't be any lower... 102/75."

Incredible.

I was so jazzed I couldn't wait to get home and tell my wife.

You know how when you look at something sometimes you don't really see it but later you realize what it was you saw?

As I was driving home it came to me. "Hey, wait a minute, did that scale say 175.8? One SEVENTY-FIVE?

I rushed home to log in and double check (even though in my mind I knew what I saw).

Sure enough, it said 175.8. Damn computers.

However, I have decided that I will react the way my daughter did 20 years ago when I explained to her that there really was no Easter Bunny... "I don't care what you say, I'm still gonna believe!"

So, as the title of the post states "I LOVE the South Beach Diet." I reached my weight loss goal in a single day. In fact, I beat it!

(I sure hope they don't calibrate that kiosk any time soon)
