I couldn't sleep
I normally get up at 5AM during the week so on the weekends I find myself waking up about that time even though the alarm is not set.
My wife doesn't get up until 6:30 or 7:00 so I usually try to go back to sleep so I don't wake her.
This morning was no different. At about 5:20 I gave up and came out here to the living room. My routine is usually the same. I turn on the coffee, get my laptop, go to the couch and catch up on how all of you are doing.
I learned a long time ago that you always have to check that there is water in the coffee maker. It really doesn't like it if there isn't any water.
I also learned that you have to make sure there is coffee in the coffee maker otherwise you get nothing but hot water ( I really don't like hot water first thing in the morning).
My lovely wife always gets the coffee ready the night before so really all I have to do is turn it on but I check it anyway because that's the kind of guy I am.
This morning I turned on the coffee and then I came out here and turned on the laptop, I could hear the coffee maker gurgling which is good because that meant it had water... then I smelled the coffee which is a good thing because that meant it had coffee. But I knew these things already because I checked... because that's the kind of guy I am.
It takes about 15 minutes for the coffee to make and then I wait a few more minutes for the last of the drips to drip down.
Sometimes I get so engrossed in reading all your blogs that I forget to go get the coffee. My wife can never understand how I could forget to get coffee. Coffee is her life first thing in the morning.
Some couples like to get frisky in the morning, some couples like to cuddle in the morning. We like to keep our distance until my lovely wife has a chance to enjoy her first cup of coffee in the morning. She is so sweet... as long as she has her coffee.
So back to my story, today I did not forget to get up and get the coffee (okay, I needed to get something else and decided to get the coffee as long as I was up, but that's not the point).
I walked into the kitchen in the dark smelling that wonderful coffee. The aroma just filled the room... literally... hey, what is that warm liquid I'm standing in?
Today I learned to check to make sure there is a pot in the coffee maker.
After cleaning up the entire kitchen floor with shop towels(where does she keep that mop anyway?) I put more water in the coffee maker, more coffee and the pot and pushed the button... nothing.
Apparently the flood killed it.
Well, it's almost 7AM and my lovely wife will be waking up soon. I'll talk to you later, I have to make a starbucks run... maybe I'll get her a donut too, that always helps.
