Walking

So today I'm starting my lunch time walking at the mall.  I'm going to take my lunch with me (Lean Pocket) and walk for at least 20 min.  WW website its 1 AP.   Heck at least its something.

We talked at our meeting last night about how important it is to get in alll your water, fruits and veggies and milk servings.  I'm really gonna try hard this month to get all these servings in.

Question though: How do you get in your fruits and veggie servings each day?  Do you drink V8?  Have them as snacks, with meals?  What tricks do you do to make sure you get in your 5 servings each day?

Tricks!

I have a fruit or vegetable with every meal of the day. And usually I make it two servings. For instance, today I am having raisins in my oatmeal, oranges for a snack, two cups of broccoli w/ lunch, and a salad with dinner. That is five servings right there.

Of course, it helps that I am a vegetarian, but still... it's not that difficult if you choose foods you really enjoy and then plan them in your day.

I always plan the fruits and veggies first. For instance, let's say you use 5 points on fruits and veggie, 2 on milk, and 2 on oil. That is 9 points right there that you already know what you're going to eat. It's the points above and beyond that that you then mix in as you can.

Hope that helps!

Fruits and veggies can be really easy for some people! On a message board I belong to (Bootcamp Buddies) geting in your healthy 8's take a top priority!

That being said, I don't eat salads often. I always get 1 or 2 servings of fruits with breakfast by just dumping frozen berries in with oatmeal. If I make my oatmeal with milk then it is a dairy serving as well.

Lunch time I usually have some sort of soup. I make all my soups on Sundays in huge batches. I'm a chunky soup kinda gal too, so I add all kinds of veggies to really bulk it up. A straight veggie soup is 0 points and can fill me for at least an hour.

I don't always eat f or v for snack....But I do always keep carrots on hand to eat (0 points) in case one of my coworkers bring something especially yummy in....

Dinner, like tonight is Pizza. I'm making it super easy with premade dough. I'm also getting canned tomato puree (for sauce), adding tons of onion (my fav!), spinach and mushrooms on top. 1 piece would definately give you one serving. Just find ways to sneak in f v's.

Dessert is fun to do as well. One of my favorites is ff/sf chocolate pudding with frozen rasberries. Or you can core an apple and zap it in the microwave for a quick baked apple....

anyway...check out bootcamp buddies, you will get tons of inspiration there!

Good for you!

Yeah!  Way to go on the lunchtime walking.  I used to do that.  What I love about it is that you haven't had to take any time away from family time.  I agree with Glory on the fruits & veggies.  I eat at least one with every mini meal.  And I try to eat the rainbow, as they say.
