Keeping a food log is not one of my favorte things to do, but i feel like i'm eating too much and i need to find a way of controlling it. even if it is an upleasant way logging it here!

revisiting my old mp3 songs

I went to strength class this morning. 8 pounders are still too heavy for me . i used to be comfortable with them last summer:(  i had to switch to fives in the middle. After the class my muscles were too jittery so i said i go on the treadmill for a light cool down walk so that my muscles get back to normal, and after a while, my mp3 player moved into the songs i used to listen to when i was training for my 5k last summer... the spirit got into me and i started a fast jog uphill for about 20 minutes. I was by the window, the sky was deep blue with gorgous white cloads, the grass was new and green, even the brick buildings with their pale navy roofs were looking beautiful.  i didn't notice how time passed :)

Happy Tuesday morning to y'all

Kickboxing yesterday. It was so good, one hour of cardio is something i never can do all by myself, and our instructor is great. She is so energetic and fun. I think i beated my cold, yay (and knock on wood!)!!!:) I'm also back on 115s. So all iis happy here. It's 10 a.m. and i'm already in the office and ready to start a productive day:)

fighting...

I feel weak. I think those walks in the cold weather made an impact on my body strength. I am taking good care of myself though: afternoon nap, hot shower, soup, nutritious food (i.e. ghorme-sabzi:D )

I went to Strength class today. When was the last time i went, i can't remember... Today it was HARD. My muscles were shaking when i was doing the exercises, and now i feel like i've dugg a montain, as we say it in Farsi!

gym vs. office

Working out has a downside for me. It gives me a sense of accomplishment that reduces my urge to work on my research. I usually devote the best time of my day to fitness classes and after that i get lazy to work and the time flies and all of a sudden it's 6-7 in the evening. Today i told myself if i work good  on my paper and be productive till 5, i'll reward myself by going to the kickboxing class. i wasn't so i stayed in the office till 8 and actually had some work done. i walked back home. it was cold and dark, brrrrr!;) These days i walk to and from school. It's not a cardio (though i walk fast), but it should count.

It's like i'm run over by a truck!

Went to Cardio Camp today. Yesterday's workout had kicked in today and i was already sore. Now a few hours after the workout, my lower body is screaming, i can hardly sit down unless it is on a pillow!:))) my chest muscles hurt too from the push-ups, and my arms from the kick-backs. That's even considering that i didn't do the running drills, i just went to the track and run slowly instead. Boy, it's too easy to  get out of shape.

back to school

The Monday after the spring break and i'm soooo sleepy. Probably Spring effect plus the fact that i've slept  few hours last night. I left office for home to take a nap and i'm blogging instead!

I went to my strength class today. It had been about 2 months since my last time. I had to work with 5 pounders but i really enjoyed my workout. I'll go to cardio camp tomorrow but will not run. I hurt my ankle in New York and it's still sore and i don't want to put any stress on it.

The photo shows the icecream in fruit shell. Mahdis joonam served this right after the new yearr and the coconut one i had was heavonly. It was not high calorie either. i miss it!

 

Meeting with the New Yorkers!

 

It was such a splendid experience to meet with these New york gals. I arrived in New York on Sunday afternoon and Mahdis and Paybarah were waiting for me at the hotel lobby. The first impression was great. For those of you guys who might wanna have an idea, Mahdis is tall, chic and stylish, very much European style. Paybarah is absolutely pretty and isn’t even near as fat as she pictures on her blog! She also has a cute 2 year old baby boy. After a while Anar arrived and joined the club. I was actually a bit nervous to meet with her, it was like meeting with a mentor or someone you have a lot of respect for. But upon seeing her my anxiety went away, she is very warm and friendly and sociable.

After i took this photo, the girls grabbed my camera and said i am to be in the pictures not taking them! well, this very one now has found its way to the blog!

We chatted a bit, pulled one another legs and headed out to get a later lunch/early dinner at Olive Gardens. I didn’t enjoy what I ordered much. It was a tasteless undercooked 4 cheese pasta . But what caught my attention was when Anar was ordering, she asked the waitress to bring her whole wheat pasta instead of regular. To me that was evidence showing her internalized so called healthy life style.

This is our dinner table, not much diet stuff, ha?;) Well, we didn't finish our food and we didn't order drinks, that's a plus!;)

After the lunch we walked a few blocks toa fancy expensive coffee shop and laughed our ears off in there comparing our humble group with all the other dressed up customers and laughing at the fact that we weren’t getting the same attentions from the coffee shop servers!

I have to admit though that the cappuchino I ordered was really good. We four decided to order just 2 desserts and share, now the funny thing was that when the deserts arrived, despite the good American huge portions, they were very small and we laughed a lot at the fact that we needed to divide term in half!

The Tiramisu we ordered and shared! I think i ate more than my share! Tiramisu is my favorite dessert.

Here’s the pic of what we ordered. I liked those darks dot on the plate! And Anar had the mint leaf on the top, she claimed literally that she has had “greens” for the dessert;)   I will come back later and post some pictures.

Spring

Spring is coming and i love it.

I love the daylight saving time. I love the fact that i can walk home from school and it's not dark or freezing. I love hearing the birds sing and feeling the fresh cool air on my skin. I love the smell of my petite purple flower in her small pot  on the table. I love looking at my wheat grass growing in the plate.

I'm touched by the magic of the New Year, finally :)
