Rice goes through a variety of processes before it's ready for cooking. After harvesting, the seeds are run through a rice huller/husker for milling to remove the outer grain husks. After this process, you're left with brown rice. To create white rice, there's added steps. The germ and the inner husk (bran) is removed, the grain is then polished, usually using glucose or talc. Then you'll have White rice.
The complete milling and polishing that converts brown rice into white rice destroys 67% of the vitamin B3, 80% of the vitamin B1, 90% of the vitamin B6, half of the manganese, half of the phosphorus, 60% of the iron, and all of the dietary fiber and essential fatty acids. Fully milled and polished white rice is required to be "enriched" with vitamins B1, B3 and iron.
These days i'm struggling with a silly cold-like allergy thing. It gives me runny nose and itchy throut, so i refrain from workout. But today i went and paid 105$ for the gym's summer membership (it's not free in summer) plus fitness classes pass plus locker rental. So to make myself go now that i've paid precious dollos for it;)
i didn't go to gym yesterday. I didn't even go to the dinner party i was invuted to. I wasn't in the mood to see any other human being! But now today, i'm right back from gym. Went to the strangth class and then did 30 minutes of inverval walking/jogging. I feel good again:)
Funny thing that happened: I've rented a permanant locker in the gym. It's not in the girl's locker room, it's farther away behind the basketball courts. i use a lady's room close by to change. Today when my workout finished and i went back to change into my street cloths, i noticed there are a pair of jeans hanging from the door of one of the toilets! They were mine:))))))) i had forgotten to take them and put them in my locker. Good that it is a remote and deserted wachroom, otherwise i should have been going around asking people if they had seen my trousers! hehe!
i had to present my ongoing research on Wednesday. So a few days before wednesday were very stressful and busy. I worked nonstop for hours after hours and didn't get a chance to workout, except for the walks to and from school (about 25 minutes each way). I also was fighting with a cold that was starting to develope in my system. at one night i had taken so many vitamine C pills that i was literally throwing up! Add to all this, limited hours i had to devote to night sleep... But all the stress and adrenalin in my blood kept me going.
Now , 24 hours past the thing, i feel the fatique. I'm sitting here in my office, with a headache and 2 iboprofen already circulating in my blood, trying to push myself to go to the cardio camp class at 5:30. But i feel my body really hates the idea. It just wants to go home, and listen to a soft music. I doubt it can tolerate the high beat tune of the cardio class and the high pitch voice of my beloved trainer shouting at it...
so what do you guys say, should i listen to it and just have a walk home with my ipod, or should i drag it to the cardio camp?
I tried this and i liked it a lot. It's actually the only low calorie granola bar i've found tasty so far. It kinda tastes like the rice-crispy i was addicted to. Thought i share it with you guys.
I just read this in a friend's blog (here) . I thought i share it with you. He is talking about a fact i've experienced as well. Working out gives me too, the good feel of "I-can-if-i-want".
