And just like that
I fall apart. I need to quit grocery shopping when I am hungry. I tend to find the candy aisle and then buy some and eat it all at once. I find myself hiding this from dh. True addiction I guess. Now I just need to learn to manage it. Stop it before I go into that candy aisle. No shopping when I am hungry will help, but I do not know if that will stop it entirely. Why is willpower so elusive??

Tips on shopping
Hi there,
Just wanted to make a couple of suggestions about grocery shopping.
Rule #1 - Never shop on an empty stomach. We all know a market can wreck havoc on a dieter if we give in to a lapse of willpower or judgement.
Rule#2 - Perimeter shop! I can't stress the importance of this enough. Most markets have the same layout. You can ultimately get everything you really need without having to go down the soda aisle, or cookie aisle or candy aisle. We start in the produce aisle and load up on fruits/veggies, continue to the back of the store for dairy (milk, eggs, yougurts) then continue onto the meat dept. Sure we do go down some aisles sometimes (bread/cereal/granola bars) but perimeteer shopping is our norm.
Rule#3 - Make a list. If it's not on the list, it doesn't go in the basket. (unless it's a great sale on something healthy)
Good Luck!
