Anyone else have this problem?
When you start working out, do you gain a little weight at first?
It drives me nuts. It makes me want to quit everything. But, when I weighed myself today, I was surprised I lost a pound. For the past two-three days I had gained back a pound.
I'm pressing on. I did 40 minutes of the Wii Fit. 25 minutes of step aerobics (you can click over to your TV while your remote clicks of the rhythm, very cool). 8 of punching a bag (fun!), and 6 hula hooping (which is tough after 3-4 minutes)
Weight loss is so frustrating. It should be easier for women. Men get it easy. Not fair!
We'll see what tomorrow brings. 2 more days till my "official" weigh in.
I'm going to chow down on my Subway, even though DH got regular mayo. It's a difference of two points. Dang it! lol

YES!!!
I HATE that I gain weight when I start working out!!! I once had it explained to me this way though:
(Imagine that your workout included running) Your body isn't used to running. All of a sudden, you force it to run. It automatically thinks, "OMG, I'm running!!! There must be a BEAR chasing me! Why else would I suddenly be running when I never run?!?!!?!?" So, it super hydrates the muscles, allowing them to do what they're not used to doing. You stop running. However, your body isn't convinced that that bear isn't still there behind you, so it keeps your muscles super hydrated just in case you need to start running away from that bear again. The next day, you run again. "AHA!!! I KNEW that bear was still there! Good thing I kept all this water in these muscles. I'm ready for that bear!" The next day, running again. Your body realizes that maybe this is going to be a normal thing and releases some of the water as your muscles get used to the exercise. Next day, more running, more water released. Eventually, your body just gets into the routine of running and is okay with running and realizes that it doesn't need to freak out and super hydrate your muscles, which is when you finally start losing weight. lol

So unfair
It is so unfair that men can lose weight so much easier and it is okay for them to be overweight. Me & my DH have gained almost exactly the same amount of weight since we started dating but he still looks fine. Gotta love it!
I have always been told you gain weight because you are building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, but it also burns more calories than fat. But I like kealoha's way of putting it better!

Unsolicited advice
I know you didn't ask. But... as far as the "gain" when you first start working out... One thing to remember is that there are far more benefits than just what the scale says. Focus on how you are making these healthy choices in your life. And how these choices will become habits. And yes, the weight will come off. But maybe the scale is not the right thing to focus on. Just a thought. Kick me if you want to.
You lost a pound....THAT'S AWESOME!
