Before After

I'm ashamed

The scale has been going the wrong way.  I know it's from bad food choices and not exercising.

It stops now!

Starting Monday evening my sis & I will start working out together ALL week.  Even if I can only make it a short time at least it's some time.

I've been ashamed to update my weight as I've gone up instead of down.  Not what I'd like to admit, but it has.

Glad you posted

Hi Jackson 5.  I am glad you posted.  it is hard to admit when we aren't doing as well as we want.  But by admiting it, we are acknowledging that it is a problem and that we can work on it.

I am glad your sis will be there to encourage you to work out.  You will help each other.  One step at a time.  Good luck.

i feel bad too if the scale goes up

I don't like reporting on here if the scale went up so I don't normally do if it goes up. I just ignore it and chalk it up to water weight (which it almost always is water weight) and if I just didn't drink beer, it would keep going down no doubt. I have been relatively good as far as avoiding alcohol except the other day I did drink 4 beers. I know how hard it is to avoid those yummy foods and some of the others on this site will claim that I need to distract myself from the beer and the yummy stuff but it's really not that simple. There are only so many distractions in my life seriously. I think that chocolate can definitely fit into a healthy diet simply this: Buy the small bar not the big one. Buy the chocolate bar with only 3 servings (those small ones) and if you eat the whole thing, don't feel bad. Cuz it's not that much really in the grand scheme of calories. I've been eating chocolate in the past week and I've been losing weight. It's because overall I haven't been eating much anyway and when I do eat, it's usually something yummy (like chocolate) or other sweets in moderation. Exercise is the best thing you can do to help you lose weight. If you go over your calories a little bit, it's not going to hurt as long as you burn it off.

EVERY DAY IS ANOTHER CHANCE

Every day is another chance to make good food choices, another day to take the time to exercise, another day to look in the mirror and say you can do this kid!  I know that being rasied in a family where alomost all the women were OVERWEIGHT and almost ALWAYS DIETING has affected me.  First of all I never thought I would end up this size, but I also have had to fight to change my way of thinking about DIETING!  Mom, grandma, aunts, cousins...always eating when they get together,  gatherings, celebration, family, love and always, always...FOOD!!!!!!!!!   Blew that diet on Thurs. so might as well eat all they can until next week.  Start a new diet!  Stuff yourself on the weekend, hurry eat, eat, eat new diet starts on Monday!   Wow, I don't think we've ever known a healthy realationship with food, but I'm working on that for myself and with my own family too.  Encouraging better choices, more healthy choices for meals and snacks.  Trying remind myself that trying to eat food that's good for you and getting your body moving is NOT an all or nothing deal!  That it's OK for me to have A piece of cake on my B-Day and I DON'T need to say what the hell, now I might as well have a a bag of Doritos and some brownies too since that cake wasn't diet!  I'm learing to cut myself some slack and not live like that beacuse too many failed attempts to lose the weight and too many "start on Monday diets" have only led to self-doubt, depression and more weight gain!   No, that is not a family tradition that I intend to keep, and it won't be one that I pass on to my kids!
