Apologies to the Ladies and Update

Hey, gals.  Thanks for writing when I was feeling a bit ostracized (in my head).  The truth is I don't have time (and admittedly the patience) to be online all day blogging.  I see some of you commenting all day and I'm like, "Wow, where do they get the time?"  LOL

I give myself about a half hour of online time daily and that's that.  I have to visit and read within that time.  I LOVE visiting and reading, but it can't be a full-time job.  I just was so weirded out having no one visit for a couple days and whatever, it was silly.

My paranoia is over and I'm getting back to what I came here for in the first place -- health and fitness, NOT some whacked popularity that means nothing.  So, if you care to visit, I'll visit you back and if not, that's totally cool too.

I'll still ask the questions.  Today's is:  Do you think losing weight is entirely physical or entirely mental?

Today's Stats:

Water: 6 out of 10 so far

Workout: 33 minutes (WATP Walk & Tone 2-miler) & Weights for Chest, Bis and Tris - Total 44 minutes

Comments to this post:

Both

I think it's about getting in the mental state where you can do the physical work required to lose weight.  Just as you can't force an addict to stop if they don't want to stop, you can't force someone (or, more importantly, yourself) to lose weight, if they (or you) aren't ready.  But once you're ready, it's a hell of a lot of physical hard work to get there.

totally both

you have to be mentally ready to tackle something like this.  if you arent, you are in for a shock.  because losing weight is not easy!

 kate.

Both

They go hand in hand, if you are not mentally prepared for the physical then you won't succeed.  Blog when you can just don't go AWOL.  reading the blogs are motivational and helpful, but drop a line every now and then to tell us about your success or how you are feeling.

No need to apologize!

As I said in my comment to your previous post...most all of us have been at that place where it seems no one is reading our blog or commenting, and it's hard not to take it personally sometimes.  But you hit the nail on the head...this journey isn't about the hits we get on our blog or the number of comments that we get...it's about our health, and the rewards that come as we see the scale go down, and the size of our clothing shrinks, and as we feel better and can move better the healthier we eat and more fit we become!  Those are the things that count for the long haul.  It helps to get encouraging comments, but I know my biggest motivation comes when I see how far I've come with the hard work of eating healthy and staying diligent with my fitness!  Like you, I'm limited in the time I can spend updating my blog, so I'd stay discouraged if I depended on how often I post on my blog!

To answer your question, I agree with Jenny*in*London...losing weight is getting the mental state in the place to where we REALLY want to lose the weight, and the physical state will follow.  I've been on this journey since October of '06, but it's probably just been in the last 6 months where I finally got my head to where I want to get healthy more than anything, and that has influenced all the physical things I do to get healthy.

Have a great day!

So agree with you alll ....

you keep hitting all the nails on the head.

Sometimes I just visit!

I would say that weight loss is mental for me...I know what to do I choose not to...I have all the tools but don't use them daily... I usually talk myself out of it.

I feel bad that I don't post a lot...I'm just not that great a writer and I mostly write how I talk and that isn't always very clear except to me. But I like to write to clear my head and to see it on paper...I do like blogging because my memory isn't that great and a paper diary I ALWAYS forget to write in.

So mostly I just visit everyone elses blogs. I'll make it a point to visit you more often

BOTH

Absolutely both.  As for the commenting, it can get overwhelming.  That's why I take a break now and again.  Most times I keep my comments brief so I can get to everyone in a short amount of time.

Enjoy your day!

The Majority Says:

Both. Everyone is hitting the nails on the head. As far as wether it's 50/50 depends on the person. It elps me so much to hear about others successes because it gives me ideas for my ownself. And like most I limit my time online. However, I do have a blackberry so I get everyone's comments on my phone and can easily respond (if I have the time).

Go You!!

hi

I'm better at blogging than I am at commenting. I am always so behind and I feel guilty. I spend way too much time on the computer, so I try to limit it. Its not easy! Sorry you were feeling like you did something wrong. I've felt that way many, many times. It is kind of funny how we worry about who has/hasn't visited our blog and why.

I think its mental. Because it is mind over matter that gets the physical part to work. For me, anyway. I have to have inner dialogues to convince myself to get up at work out!

Both

I know what you mean about the time spent online.  I don't always have that much time and if I do I like to do other things besides blogging, so if I don't visit each day don't feel bad because I just spend a little time each day at it too.  I have just recently cut down on my computer time, so I try and visit people through out the week.

I do believe the answer for your question for me is both.

EP

Hey, I'm glad you got past the whole "popularity" thing on EP-- I think this is actually a community of women who really get to know each other over time-- and that takes time too!
Not only that, but some people get more 'famous' when they post really amazing weight loss stories and people visit their blogs alot to see what it going on with them and get inspiration.
Whatever: you're right, you are on your own journey-- so I'm glad you're focused on the you that counts.

As for me: I come and go from this site, and I'm sorry if I've been inconsiderate-- sometimes I see your lovely supportive posts and don't even write back out of sheer overwhelmedness.  So thanks for being a new friend to me here... you will make it to your goals, just keep on working at it every day!!
Vanessa
