Before After

Running! (with update!)

I was SO proud of myself today! At school we had our staff only development day (the kidlets come back tomorrow!) and that basically equals a huge morning tea and lunch buffet that the social club provides. Generally I use a boring day full of meetings as justification to snack, but I was REALLY good! Here's my food so far:

*Breakfast was 3 x ultra thin rice cakes w/ light cottage cheese (only 75cals each, love them!)
*Morning tea was 1 x weight watchers apple bar and 1 x low fat yoghurt (while everyone was eating cakes and biscuits and slices!)
*Lunch was 2 x pieces of wholemeal & grain bread w/ two ultra thin slices of devon and 2 x rockmelon slices.
*Afternoon snack was 6 x vitawheat crackers w/ vegemite.

Ultra thin is my word of the day !!! Lots of small meals, all healthy, all filling. I love being back at school! Routines are lovely. :)

I am also weirded out at the moment, since I was dreading today's exercise really quite horribly. I'm just beginning week 3 of my Couch to 5k training, and it starts increasing the bouts of running this time. I was terrified my shins wouldn't hold up, or my breathing wouldn't let me complete it. But I did it!

13 minutes of brisk walking for a warm up. (Supposed to be 5, but I increased it to 10 for my shin splints and then ended up walking a wee bit further because a favourite song came on my Ipod!)
(2 minute pause for some shin stretching)
90 seconds of brisk walking.
90 seconds of running.
3 minutes of brisk walking.
3 minutes of running.
90 seconds of brisk walking.
90 seconds of running.
3 minutes of brisk walking.
3 minutes of running.
90 seconds of brisk walking.
90 seconds of running. (I wasn't meant to do this last jog, but I was feeling pumped so did a little extra.)

I know it's not much in the scheme of things, but my heart was pounding, I pushed through the laziness, and I came off alive! And feeling great! Just walked up the stairs and was puffing it all out, telling mum she should start the programme. Weight loss aside, running is something I never thought I'd do. Fingers crossed I keep on enjoying it, and managing to get through the longer runs without hurting my shins.

Sorry to blather, I'm excited. And tonight, we're heading off to a birthday dinner out at a restaurant for my brother. I'm looking forward to a very nice gourmet meal, with no cheap and nasty junk food options, just special YUMMY food.

Alright, yummy dinner all complete. I ate a small serve of beef voulezvant (spelling?) for an entree, followed by chicken w/ marsala sauce (scraped off, a bit too heavy for me) and I followed it with half of a miniature apple pie, gave away the icecream. Also had a diet coke with dinner too. YUM. It was perfect. Good night all!

C25k

Great job on your C25k training.  I've heard good things about it and people typically are very happy with the results, much like yourself!  Well done!  Keep up the good work.

P.S.  Great job on surpassing your half-way mark!

well done

you have every right to feel happy about your day.  Buffets are very very hard to resist and boring meetings trigger the eating so much more. Enjoy your dinner - you deserve it but keep an eye on what you eat.

Better!

I'm glad you're feeling better after that mini-meltdown triggered by KFC.

As you've probably been told a million times, never get too down on yourself for slipping.  It happened.  It's over.  Move on.  Don't beat yourself up.  Just get right back on track.

It seems that you've now done just that and you're doing great.  Keep up the great work!

I'm SO proud of you!

Am SO glad that you're happy. Your post just radiates happiness - it put a smile on my face.

How good are routines?! I cant wait to get back into mine.

Great job - you're doing so well
