October Update

A lot has been going on with me over the last 6 weeks. I've been doing some reading, but also finally some action as well. This may or may not be the right place for this, but I'll just say that as some of you may know, I have been reading and studying and mulling over Buddhist thought and sporadically practising sitting meditation for the last 4 years. I have practised twice a day for 40 days straight now, in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. I am hesitant to call myself a Buddhist, though. I don't want to call myself anything, really. The fact remains though  that I have been and will continue to practise a form of Buddhism based on Vietnamese and Zen Buddhism interpreted by this teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh. I believe this is the best path for me. I am a follower of the Buddha-dharma. I don't want to call myself a Buddhist because it comes with so many images and meanings attached to it in the minds of people, just like the term Christian does, and the term Muslim does. And so many people actually have no idea what Buddha-dharma is about, really.

Anyway.  So that's what I've been doing and thinking about during my absence. When I feel I'm ready, I am going to seek out an Order of Interbeing practice centre. I do like to take things in my own time, though, and for now I am happy as I am.

WOW!

OK - so when is your book coming out? :-)

I love the you work out in a real, tough, challenging way, and yet you find time go to the same extreme in your meditiation practice.

You go girl!

The Firm

Thank you for your concern about The Firm.  Did you have a similar experience?  It was aweful, but I sorted things out with those people.  It got to the point where so many things were going wrong that I wrote a long e-mail to them describing everything that had happened.  I included how stressed it made me feel and what they needed to do about it.  I gave them two options:  Give me my money back or overnight my missing items by the end of the week.  They acted quickly and overnighted my missing items to me!

What was even more interesting was that I did get everything I was missing, plus some extra items.  You know the pink cardio weights?  I got two full sets instead of one.  That was a pleasant surprise because now I have twice as much weight that I can add as I get stronger.

Maybe next time I want to order something I should post about it to get thoughts and opinions before ordering it.  I love the workouts, though!

I hope you're having a great weekend,

Leanne

No need for labels

I think that your interfaith meditative practice is really interesting and clearly it's beneficial to you.  (I say interfaith because you've mentioned using Christian iconography in your meditation space)  There's no need to declare or limit oneself, any more than you cheat on the Firm by using other workout videos.  Okay, that was a really silly analogy.

I hope you've had an excellent week.
