Bad Morning!

Wow, I had a horrible morning as far as calories go!  But, I knew going into it that it was going to be high this morning, but actually seeing the numbers was a little shocking!  My sis gave me a coupon for a local restaurant, buy a breakfast sandwich and get my favorite frozen coffee drink.  YUMMY!  Decided to get it out of the way at the beginning of the diet plan, as kind of a farewell!  Drank all of the coffee drink, and only ate half of the sandwich.  Which after looking at the calories, was probably a good thing!

Didn't eat lunch, just wasn't hungry, and there really wasn't anything here that was light and sounded good.

Went to the store this evening after hubby left for work.  Had to pick up a few things for my mom and decided to get a certain frozen dinner that I have been craving and my usual grocery store doesn't carry.  Well, this store didn't have it either.  Boo!  But, I found a close facsimile, and all though the original wasn't too bad on calories, I'm betting this one was a lot lower.  It was a "diet" dinner, and I was pleasantly shocked at how few calories it had.  Didn't have a veggie with it, so I got a bag of frozen broccoli and cauliflower and tested out Ziplocs Steam bags.  They worked great, veggies were perfectly cooked.  Yummy and easy.  And, I ate half the bag (small bag) and it was only 75 calories.  Made my whole supper only 435.  Not too bad, and I am stuffed.  Could have gotten by with less veggies, but I didn't realized how much it would be.  Plus, I could have knocked more calories off if I hadn't drank Dr Pepper with it.  I'm starting my tapering down though, and hope to get totally off of it by the end of next week.

Didn't do my exercise dvd today, or yesterday for that matter.  I helped my sis clean her house some yesterday, and today I walked to check my mail instead of waiting to check it when I left the house in my car, and I walked around the store for quite awhile just looking at everything.  It's not a store I usually go to, so I had to wander all over trying to find what I needed.  Not real strenuous exercise, but better than nothing.

Got some caramel corn rice cakes to snack on, just have to make sure and watch the portion size.  I have a pretty good scale, so I need to just be diligent about portioning everything out so that I can stick to a certain number of calories.

Well, that's all for now.  Got the house to myself tonight, at least for a few more hours, so I'm gonna go catch up on some TV or watch a movie.

Later

Here we go AGAIN!!

Well, I'm at it again.  My sis and I are desperately trying to get rid of this weight once and for all.

Didn't realize she had all ready started, so I haven't exactly been eating healthy, but we have to start somewhere, right?

Found some work out DVD's that I bought forever ago, after searching all over the house.  Exercise in it's own right!  Just before I found them though, I slipped in the hallway (don't exactly know how, but I don't usually need a reason! LOL).  I landed really hard on my right elbow, sending my whole arm backwards.  Heard a yucky crunching sound in my shoulder, and I must have landed somewhat on that hand also, cause I am sore on that side from my fingertips, up my arm, into my shoulder, and part way up my neck and down my back!  I am nothing if not talented!  LOL

Didn't think I was hurt too bad, and I was so happy to finally find the DVD's that I put down a mat on the floor, and got to work.  Didn't realize that after the warm up stretch, we went into power yoga!  YIKES!  Not exactly built for upward dog and all that!  Gave it my best though, because any form of exercise is an improvement.  The longer it went, the more my whole arm starting hurting.  By the time we actually got to the exercise portion of it, I was in serious pain.  So, I got in about 15 minutes, which combined with the intense searching, is about 25 minutes more than I usually get!

Tomorrow I have to go help my sis with some stuff, so I'm not sure I will get back to the DVD, or if my shoulder and arm will be up to it.  But, if I don't get to it tomorrow, I definitely will on Friday, even if I can't do 100%.

One of my biggest problems, other than lack of exercise, is my addiction to Dr Pepper!  My sis is addicted to Pepsi, mine is Dr P.  LOVE IT!!!!  Unfortunately, the diet version just isn't as good.  But, I will switch to it soon, 'cause I'm also very addicted to the caffeine.  So, I'm gonna taper off the regular, then switch to the diet, and eventually, I would like to be free from the dependency for the caffeine.

Also, money's kind of tight right now (ok, so maybe tight is a major understatement), so it is real hard to go shopping for "healthy" foods.  It's hard finding money for staples and necessities, much less "diet" foods.  I will do the best that I can with what I have available, and with what I can purchase, because even small changes will make a difference.

So, I'm hoping that we can do it this time.  It is definitely a LOT harder to get rid of the weight than it is to gain it.

But, with seeing the health problems that my mother has, and knowing that my health insurance premiums were DOUBLE because of my weight, I'm gonna do it this time.  It might be a slow process, and I'm sure I'll get frustrated or slip every now and then, but it needs to be done.

Major Changes Ahead

Well, I didn't do to bad yesterday, all though I haven't officially started changing all of my bad choices yet.  Just found this site yesterday, and am in the process of making lots of changes.  Need to go shopping to find suitable things for breakfast, but my problem is that since I usually eat on the fly, I need something quick and portable.

I am doing better on drinking water, all though I totally blew any good intentions today with lunch!  Was out running errands for work with my MIL, and she wanted to stop at one of our favorite restaraunts, Margaritaville!  UGH!  I did order water with my meal, even though they serve Dr. Pepper, which is my weakness!  And I did eat a salad first, but the main meal more than made up for any wise choices I made before that.

This weekend I am going to invest in an exercise bike and I'm going to ride it even if it kills me!  If I could find a way to hook it up to the TV or computer, and my pedaling controlled the power then it wouldn't be a problem!  LOL

But, I am going to lose this weight so that my son can be proud of me, and I will feel proud of myself.  I want there to pictures of me with my family that I am not tempted to throw away!  I don't want the slew of health problems to haunt me, like they haunt my mother.  I want to be an active mom and be able to practice baseball and soccer with my son, and be able to take my grandkids to the beach without feeling self conscious and miserable.

So, I'm off to a slow start, but I'm willing to put in some hard work to get the job done.  It might not be all at once, but there are many changes ahead and they are all for the better!
