Unusually tired...

The last couple of days I have been extremily tired and not even feeling like doing my walk when I get home from work.  I am thinking it is because of the extreme heat that we are experiencing.  They said there was a heat alert the past couple of days.  The weather is supposed to be cooling down so I am going to plan for my walk this evening.  I have been walking at lunch...but by the time i get home I am tired.  I also have to get my weights in tonight...kind of slacking there.  I want to at least get in two sessions this week.  I am going to do that tonight also. 

I will post in here and let you all know if I got my weights and walk in tonight.  Let me know how you all are doing.  My eating is good.    I just want to kick it up a notch...I dont want another plateau

Anyways, have any of you been experiencing this with the extreme heat?

Yup

I have the exact same issues (wrote about them this AM), the heat and humidity is just making me wilt.  Have decided I will wait it out -- it is really all you can do.  Wish I still had my gym membership...would be more inclined to workout if I had a place with airconditioning!

Yeah, the humidity has been a real killer lately. We were up to 99 a few days ago with 70% humidity. Misery. It's cooling off a bit now.

Early morning?

Is doing your walk first thing in the morning an option?  It's hot as hades here during the day so I've been getting up early to get my walk in before I get dressed for work.

The heat could definitely be contributing to your energy level.  It always drains mine!

if Ohio is having a heat wave you know it is bad!  It is so hot down here in Louisiana it is ridiculous!

Extreme Heat

Ok, I am from Florida - so this is one I actually know the answer too!

1.  Drinkdrinkdrink plenty of fluids.  Treat it like a workout if you are doing a lot of sweating and make sure you have electrolytes.

2.  Occassionally, go wipe your face, wash your hands, and wipe down your neck, chest, and arms with a damp cloth/towel.

3.  Go to a bathroom and take off your shirt, so you can 'air out', and feel refreshed when you put it back on. 

4.  Bring a bottle of your favorite body spray to spritz yourself with.

5.  Sunglasses!!

6.  If you can find shade, park there and use those giant window covers.

7.  Put a shirt in the freezer and put it on when you get really hot.

8.  Take a midday quick shower in water as cold as you can stand it.  Pretend you are jumping into a spring.

9.  You can freeze a bag of popcorn kernels and they retain the cold reeeeally well.  You can put it on your neck or something.

and i understand about the heat. it just makes you really tired, right? same here, and working outside doesn't help much.

you could try working out in the mornings when it's cooler?
