Through all the fears and anxiety, I made it. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. The songs on my iPod were jamming, the power gels (yuck!) I took when I was running, kicked in at the right time, the weather was even nice. I actually had a lot of energy!
There was a young lady here that I know who offered to boost me up and run it with me for the long haul. We had to slow down periodically throughout the run, which was fine because she had cramps in her stomach most of the run. Around mile 11, I felt as if my knees were going to shut down. I started tripping over my own feet (clumsy)
We finished it in about 2:52.
I've heard horror stories about the after effects of marathons. However, so far the pain I've experienced were aching in my knees. I took some ibuprofen before I went to bed and its not as bad as it was yesterday. I'm starting to experience the tightness in my legs and back, but it just feels like I've been lifting weights. Other than that, I'm thinking on my next achievement.....(to be continued)
Man....my first half marathon! (whew) Somebody pinch me because it still does feel real. Now that is what I call achievement!

AWESOME!!!!!!
I hadn't realized it was coming up so soon! That's awesome, girl! Funny thing is, when I did the half marathon last year, that was EXACTLY my time, 2:52:11!
Congrats to you, be careful and easy on the knees!
YAY to you!!!!! And here I was struggling with my 5 mile run yesterday!!
Completing your first half-marathon is such an awesome achievement! I'm sure you are so proud of yourself, especially since you were hesitant about it. Now as your body recovers just relax and take a few nice baths. I know you still may not like running but you're still a runner!
YEAH!!!!! Way to go my friend!!! I almost had tears in my eyes reading this one. I so wish I could have been there with you. I can only imagine the excitement you must feel after completing that one. See, I told you that you were my She-ro!!!!!
Surprise! Surprise! I'm back online. I knew you could do it!!!! You're our very own GI Jane!!!! I am so proud of you. This is a monumental acheivement. I know you have many more to come. So when's your next one??
