PT Failure
Ok.....I am soooo disgusted at this very moment.
I had to take my PT test today and I missed my run by 11 secs. Talk about hard work in vain. I just don't know where I went wrong or what I was thinking. I have been training on top of training. I haven't missed my run in over 2 years since I started the 5k's at home with my girlfriends. I am soooo disappointed.
My plan from now until the retake next week is going to be nothing but sprints. My endurance should be at a level were I'm confident to run without stopping. I just need to work on my speed. I'm planning on taking the test again next week. Wish me blessings.
Anybody got any tips for where my concentration should be during my runs? All I wanted to do this morning was just stop. All I could think about was how bad I'd rather be doing something else at that moment. I thought I prepared myself mentally and physically for this test. But "mentally" I was somewhere else.

Shoot!!!
Dog-gone 11 secs!!! Shoot, I sure hate that. You'll do better next week girl. As far as your mind goes, remember how we used to get in that zone? I'm sure it's hard over there, but try to get really focused. I know what...just pretend HOME is the finish line.
(This was probably bad humor, but I love ya anyway!!)

Push Ups
The push ups are part of the P90X workout for Chest and back day. There are 6 different push up variations that we do twice throughout the video. For 5 of them I do 30 reps, for Dive Bomber push ups I do 15 so for the entire video I complete about 330 pushups total. I used to only do one set of standard pushups very infrequently at about 10 reps.
In between push ups are pull ups/ chin ups and other back exercises. I still can't do a pull up without assistance but I'm working at it! That is one of my lifetime goals!
I do like the P90X system a lot. Pretty intense and challenging. Thanks for checking in on my blog. It's nice to know when people actually read it!

focus problems
I have days like that too, where my legs feel like two cement blocks and I just can't go on any longer.
But then I try to tell myself to just keep putting one step in front of the other. Then if that doesn't work, I focus ahead by a few blocks and say "just make it to there", and then focus again at another spot and try to keep going. When I'm running in city streets, I'll sometimes let myself take a break at a busy intersection while waiting for traffic.
The sure way to make a run hard is to think about how bad it sucks to be running! Which, hey, it does suck a lot of times. But then think about how good it feels to COMPLETE a run. Think about how good it'll feel to finish that half marathon!! Think about how good it'll feel when you're out there running not to lose weight, but to maintain it!!!
Sometimes I also like imagine how good I'll look 40 pounds from now, running this same route. It's hard to put the negative talk out of your head...if nothing else, focus on where you've come from...from not running at all, to actually contemplating a 5K or 10K or half marathon or marathon. John Bingham puts it best by saying "The miracle isn't that I finished, it's that I had the courage to start." YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!! YO GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!

and to answer your question from my blog...
...you know, I don't really use the food log/activity log here. I tried to at first, but I found it a little cumbersome in a few features, compared to something else I use. So I stopped using it, but do log things in with another program.
To be specific, Bob Green's "get with the program" software.

Focus Ahead
Technically, I am a walker w/ high aspirations of being a runner girl someday. When I am really in the zone I attempt to jog for smidgens of time. When I want to stop, I pick a tree, shadow, crack in the sidewalk, a street light/sign in the distance and challenge myself to make it there. Although I tell myself that I can stop when I get there--I really try to re-challenge myself to continue on to another point in the distance. ("distance" can even be as little as 10 feet away). You are so strong, you are so powerful, forward montion, You Go Girl! Many Blessings to You, Shauna
