Cool Weather Bonus
All of this cold wet weather enabled me to harvest a big delicious salad for dinner. Four different kinds of lettuce, three varieties of radishes, radish tops, and store-bought mini peppers, carrots, tomatoes and sunflower seeds. I added a cold cut up chicken thigh, and it is a wonderful dinner!
My plans for the day didn't pan out. I laid back to read for a while, and fell asleep for 3 1/2 hours! I read for all of about 20 minutes.
Needless to say, I didn't get any cooking done, either. Just a lazy, lazy day.

What to do
I feel like I should be getting up and doing something, but on a gray and gloomy day like this, I just feel like going to bed and snuggling in the warmth with my cat. Maybe I'll do that for a little while, and just get caught up with some reading.
I was thinking about that a few days ago. When I was younger, I was always losing myself in books, and loved to while away the hours reading. I haven't done much of that in recent years, though I have a stack of really good books waiting for me to pick them up and give them a little time and attention.
I think I'll see what Saving Fish from Drowning has to offer this morning.
This evening, I think I'll get back to working jigsaw puzzles, too. I need to occupy my time more effectively. I've been doing too much boredom eating lately.

Struggling
I'm really struggling right now to keep eating under control. Activity-wise, I'm all over the place, burning 2600 calories on the day when I work, to often burning just 1800 on other days. It's time for a plan of action.
Since I'm not working today, I think it would be a good idea to prepare my meals for the coming week, ahead of time.
No more food of any kind sitting out where it is convenient to just grab a handful.
Portions measured and weighed ahead of time.
Drink more water.
Get up and move more.

A LIttle Warmer Today
It's a little warmer today, but not much. At least it's not snowing! However, it is rainy and cold enough that my boss told me not to come in today. I'm not on the schedule for the weekend, but he said to check in tomorrow to see if he needs me then. So far, we're supposed to have nice weather for the weekend, so I hope to be able to work.
This is going to put a strain on the pocketbook.

Rain, Snow, Snain, and a Little Light Hail?
This is truly the most weird weather I have ever seen, and in Colorado we usually have weird weather to spare.
When I got up to let the dogs out at 6:00, it was raining and chilly. By the time I got up to get ready for work, it was colder, and snowing lightly. By the time I got to work at 9:30, it was a steady light rain. By the time I left there at 12:30, it was rain mixed with small, light hail. WTF??!!
I'm finally warming up. We had to bring all of the annual plants indoors, and it was quite a challenge. What was really strange was all the people we had coming in to shop. Needless to say, it wasn't so easy for them to shop in a greenhouse stuffed to the gills with 8' racks of plants jammed into every indoor nook and cranny we could find.
By the time I left, I was soaked. I had gone through two pairs of gloves that I wore for as long as I could stand them, until they were so wet and cold that my hands were freezing. I warmed my hands with cups of hot coffee when I could.
Almost an hour after I got home, my hands, nose and feet are just now starting to warm up. The good thing is, we really desperately needed the precip. But why does it have to be so danged blasted COLD!?
It looks like I need to put off planting for as long as another week.

Now I'm Different
I used to be that way.
I have so many "I used to bes." I've been maintaining for so long that I have to take inventory of this. Now I have to figure out the I used tos I need to purge that will carry me into this next phase.
I think the biggest one is that I used to think that where I am is good enough. That was then, this is now. I've already proved that I can maintain for a long period of time, something I thought would never happen. I already purged the "I used to lose weight and then gain it back, plus some." So I need new things to make different.
The first one I have to purge is, "I start to lose the rest of the weight I want to lose, but then life happens and I lose focus." But now I'm different.

Unreal
Woke up this morning to rain, and it is now trying to turn into snow. We'll probably have to spend most of the day today moving plants indoors and covering those we can't. I hope I get sent home early, instead.

It's All In My Head—Really, Is It?
Last year, an article in
Science Daily reported that merely eating organic snacks can lead to gross under-estimating of calories eaten. Compounding the phenomenon is that the people most often doing this are those who say they eat only organic foods, and those who typically read nutrition labels! Researches attribute it to a "health halo" which causes people to reward themselves for healthy eating by eating more.
To avoid eating too much "healthy" food, they make the following recommendation:
"Take your best guess at its calorie count. Then double it. You'll end up being more accurate, and you'll probably eat a lot less," explained Wansink.

Ugh.
I work today, but I don't really feel much like it. Allergies are particularly bad this morning. Hopefully, that will get a little better later. I'm short of breath, and I'm having a hard time getting my muscles oxygenated, so when I do much physical exertion (like climbing stairs), they ache.
Well here I go. Wish me luck.

How Realistic Are My Weight Loss Goals?
BMI or weight loss charts? Fit or unfit? Heavily or lightly muscled? It can all affect our target weight.
BMI has weaknesses in determining optimal weight goals. It doesn't take crucial factors into account, such as musculature and frame size, or if weight is carried primarily above the waist or below the hips, which can affect the results significantly.
To determine your ideal weight range, it can often be more helpful to take frame size into account, since larger bones weigh more than smaller bones, no matter what your height and/or hip-to-waist circumference.
Here's how to determine your frame size:

Here's table to find your ideal weight range, based on that frame size:
http://www.am-i-fat.com/weight_tables_women.html
There are ideals and ideals, and those can vary from person to person. If you are very fit, you may feel better and be healthier at a higher weight than what might be considered your "ideal." Ideal is where you feel good and can maintain that weight without a lot of fuss, bother, and deprivation. I think we are often bullied into believing that we can't be healthy or happy unless we attain and maintain a weight that may be unrealistic for us.
