Before After

Be Kind

Sometimes we tend to focus so much on what we have done wrong, that we forget to give ourselves credit for the things we do right. Rather than congratulate ourselves for the week of following our eating plan, and getting a fair amount of exercise, we beat ourselves up for the one meal of the week where we didn't make the optimal choices to enhance our goals.

The truth is, one meal is not going to undo a week of good choices.

What is going to undo that week is throwing our hands in the air and concluding that, based on that one meal, we can't do this and we might as well go ahead and eat that way for the next day or so. It tends to justify the beating-up we have given ourselves. If we're going to lay down that big fat guilt trip, we might as well ensure that we make it worthwhile, right?

The truth is, if we de-brief and look objectively at why our behavior deviated, we can find ways to avoid a repeat performance.

Wow

I just uploaded to the BodyBugg website, and discovered that I burned a total of 2700 calories yesterday, so my big fat Mexican dinner last night shouldn't have hurt a thing!

The weather is beautiful this morning, so I expect that we will be super-busy at the store today. This is good. It makes the day fly by!

Ha!

It's a good thing I burned 2350 calories today before dinner! And, it's a good thing  didn't eat much earlier in the day!

Dinner totaled up to 1000 calories. YIKES! Two bloody marys, half a tamale, and a chile relleno, all smothered in green chile. But it was wonderful.

Now it's time to ice my back and relax for a while.

Hooray! Cinco de Mayo!

I'm going out to dinner tonight with friends at one of our favorite watering holes, for Mexican food. It will be a relaxing way to end the day.

It was  madhouse at work today. I unloaded and set out at least five racks of flowers today, in addition to regular duties. We had a big sale on gallon-size geraniums, four for $20, and full flats of bedding plants for $20, and 12" deluxe hanging baskets for $20. We couldn't keep up with the demand! We had seven trucks deliver today. I hope we get lots more tomorrow because we ran out of sweet potato vine and black petunias!

Gotta run and get ready to goto dinner!

Later, Gators

Well, I'm off to work. It isn't as nice out today as was projected, so I'm wondering if I will work a full shift today.

HOWEVER, it is Mother's Day weekend, so I imagine we will be inundated with deliveries today. We had five trucks yesterday, so we will probably get quite a few today, too.

I have a feeling it could end up being a very busy day, even if we don't get as many customers as we would if it was sunny.

No Skinny Cow

Last night I did get hungry in the evening, but instead of the Skinny Cow sammie, I had fruit, for 0 Points.

I felt like the fruit was a better choice because I was feeling a little weak, and thought the ice cream might set me off. So this morning, I'm quite proud of myself.

Attitude of Gratitude

My friend Patty (on a weight loss message board), set a theme for this week, to find things for which we can be grateful this week. It's good topic for me, because some things happened that were making me feel un-grateful this week, so focusing on that topic each day will help me to dump the junk in my trunk.

The one big thing I'm most grateful for is that I'm starting to get out more, and have been sowing the seeds for making some new friends: The lady at the gourmet shop who offered me a job last week is someone who could become a friend, the sisters I met at a political event, the candidate I met, my new co-worker, and the young couple who will be moving in next door.

I'm also grateful to be working again. It feels so good to get out of the house and do something constructive and sociable.

Just Checked!

I just logged all my food and uploaded my activity, and I'm already running a 1000-calorie deficit today! If I get hungry later, I'll have a Skinny Cow ice cream sammie.

Very Good Day!

Today was absolutely beautiful, and we were busy as all get out. I sold at least $4000 in trees, shrubs, and perennials. It's so much fun when it's busy, and it will only get busier. It's supposed to be another beautiful day tomorrow, so we should be very busy again.

Just to be safe, I'm taking Aleve tonight (to protect my back against inflammation) and ice it. Chiro wants to do another adjustment tomorrow, so we'll see if our schedules work together.

Very good day food-wise.

Went to Costco to pick up hearing aids, and ended up spending two hours there. It took a while to get the aids and their remote control to work with my iPhone (it was the first time the audiologist had set one up). Now everything works beautifully.

I'm feeling tired, and very proud of myself tonight.

Here I Go!

Woke up this morning, and my back feels almost back to normal, finally.  Babying it the last couple days seems to have done some good.

Now I'm off to work.
