Questions?

I have been reading a lot of the blogs from people who have lost a lot of weight and for the most part they are all members of either Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers. I am very proud of those who have lost weight but I have never really understood these programs. From their websites it seems that the main appeal is having that community there to support you and having meals already planned for you, which I can see the benefit of but am not really sold on paying that kind of money for this.

I know no one has all the answers and if they do its only as it applies to their body since everyone is different but to lose serious weight is this what we all need to do? And if so what is the component that we are missing when we don't use these programs that prevents us from losing this kind of weight? Is there anyone out there who has lost and maintained a lot of weight without using these programs and if so how did they do it?

I guess I am just feeling a little glum since I can't afford these programs in the least and would much rather spend money on exercise classes, but I also want to lose this weight and I have been exercising for several years now. What's the answer?

I do Weight Watchers

I ordered a Weight Watchers At Home kit.  I did belong to WW several years ago so I kind of new the program already.  The biggest benefit of WW meetings is the support but you can get some good support on the website as well.  The at home kit gives you all of the info you need to do their program and you do not have to buy any of their food.  Each food has a points value and each person has a certain number of points you can use in a day plus a weekly allowance which you can spend any way you want.  The point of this program is to teach portion control and to help you make healthier food choices and to get you to exercise more.  You can go to the WW website, weightwatchers.com, and check it out.  You can even go on the community message boards without having a paid membership and talk to people about WW.  I have found that  most people are pretty nice on there but some can be mean, just ignore the mean ones if you check it out.  I have been on WW since Oct 25, '07 and I have lost 41.4lbs.  The biggest thing is you have to realize that this is something you will need to do for the rest of your life and you will succeed.  Good luck on your journey and I hope I helped.

I think for me it was about no having control - and JC puts me in control.

I think anything works if you are committed!

You sound like you are - good luck to you - let me know how Tai Chi is
