This morning I hopped on the scale (like I still do most mornings) and saw.........
140.0
Ya'll, it was really weird. I mean, really really STRANGE. Ever since hitting 150 I have been operating under the condition that I would be happy if I lost another 10 pounds. 140 was my low weight... something that I didn't want to go below. And now Im here. I'm kind of unclear on shat to do next. I have been eating more, but I guess I need to add even more calories to maintain since I have been slowly losing to this point.
More calories.
People, do you know how much food you have to eat to get enough calories when you are sticking with healthy, whole foods?! A-LOT. I think its time to add a slice of whole grain bread and natural PB, or something similar, even though I have resisted doing so up until now. Maybe some whole grain crakers, or other grains that are more calorie dense.... I already have a serving of nuts every day, and usually some "real" cheese, or 2%... Any suggestions on higher calorie whole/healthy foods to add?
Also, RE: The lattes. For the record, I had one on Suday morning and one yesterday morning... and I think I had one on Thursday....or Friday... either way it was 3 in the span of 5 days, which is a lot for me lately. I didn't have one this morning, and I am going to try to keep it to 1 or 2 a week. I don't want Starbucks to become a habit... it used to be, and it hurt not only my waist line but my wallet as well! Thanks for all the imput ladies, it made me re-evaluate the situation!

wow!
I think some whole grain breads, peanut butter, and maybe some (unsulfured) dried fruits would get you more calories without filling you up too much? You could also add some ground flax to your morning grains--it's reasonably calorie-dense and also full of really good-for-you fats. Ashley and the gang had a whole discussion about it a while back . . . can't remember if that was during your hiatus or before.
It's really nice to hear someone say they need to add more calories--so many of us fear dieting our bodies into a poor metabolism, where we are always cutting quantity to lose or even maintain. Proof that core/whole foods is a safe and healthy way to live, I'd say. And I know I said this like 2 days ago, but I am so happy that you are working at staying fierce and recognizing that you have reached another goal instead of letting yourself waste away. It's so tempting to keep the losing routine once you've established it, and it takes a brave and strong person to add calories and recognize when the time for losing is done. If your body keeps letting go of weight while you're upping the calories there's not much else you can do, but the fact that you are consciously slowing down is key.
For checking in on me. You are doing so great and maintenance they say is hard without sabotaging yourself. Adding more organics probably would help you stay there. Like blondeez and yourself said they are more calorie dense and make you still feel full but give you the proper calories. Bad side, for example I ate a spinach wrap from Jason's the other day and man, I was full all day. Have to watch that because it was only like 380-400 calories and I need at least 1500 right now.
But the crackers and natural peanut butter sounds like a winner, maybe a protein shake to supplement?
And I wasn't serious about the conspiracy, but if you ask my MIL she would swear it was. But hey, you never know. Even if it is a conspiracy at least I am aware of it and I will fight it. They won't get the best of me. LOL
I'm on the fly out to work, and was going to pop in with everyone from work, but I saw your comment on blondeez, and well, if I don't pounce on this now I'll forget and totally miss out!...
I would love your recipe for the crockpot steel cut oats! It sounds amazing and I think would be a perfect breakfast to tote to work with me through the winter. So if you could share that would rawk!
No, not for extra calories...although, they are kind of high in calories (for fruit) and full of fiber, etc.
The grass is always greener on the other side, isn't it? I've been an apple my whole life. Most of my friends are pears and they hate it. I guess I should be glad I'm not a pear and just appeciate and accept my apple body! :) Before I lost weight and got active I seemed more in proprotion, now it seems like my lower half is not even my body! I will try some of those arm exercise suggested and see what happens. I'm always asking "how do I lose weight in my rib cage?? why is it so huge??" Ugh.
Hey, we are the same weight now...except you are much taller than me, so its good that you are going to keep an eye on that and not lose any more. You look great just the way you are.
I'm having the same problem as you on this detox diet. These whole foods fill me up and I'm just not eating enough calories. I had to force myself to have dinner last night. I just wasn't hungry! But I hadn't had nearly enough protein for the day, so I did it anyway.
I started asking myself the same question: what's a whole food that has a lot of calories? I came up with two things: avocadoes and nut butter. Pile on the good fats. I like Blondeez's suggestion of the flax, too. It'll add about a 100 cals to your breakfast. Really, that's about it. Everything else is pretty low-cal. I think the only day I met my minimum calories last week was the day I ate lamb, which of course had a bunch of saturated fats, which I want to go light on.
It's scary, isn't it? I think I will be worried the same way if that starts to happen to me as well... But if you need to add calories then go ahead and see how it goes. And if it helps you maintain at 140 or slightly higher then you can stick to it. After a while you will adapt to the added food and everything will be all good!
I am currently a Starbuck's slave but it's more of a wallet problem than anything. It sucks because I really don't have the excess funds for it! lol Glad you were able to make a plan for your love of coffee. One day I'd like to do the same thing.
