So tell me something
And be honest....
If I have a Grande non fat, no whip, two pump gingerbread latte every morning, but stay away from all other refined sugars, it that considered "limiting refined sugar" Or am I cheating myself? What if I only have one every OTHER day? They seem to be my vice lately, and a huge part of me thinks that two pumps of syrup is not THAT much sugar (they usually put about 4-6 pumps in a latte), and that there is nothing wrong with my habit... but a small part is saying STOP!!! NO SUGAR!!!!!!!!! Your thoughts?
In other news, I got up and went to the gym this morning, even though I REALLY didn't want to. So YAY me there!
Have a great

certainly isn't much
If you were trying to cut out all refined sugars, obviously that would be out. But I guess it depends on what "limiting" means--does that mean having only small amounts or limiting sugar to occasional, as opposed to habitual, consumption? You're definitley having limited amounts compared to the general populace but if it's every day that's still a caffeine & sugar addiction. This from a woman who lives for her sugar free (but very artificially sweet) vanilla nonfat cappuccino every morning, so I'm not saying that's awful, it just depends on whether the goal is to lessen how much sugar or stop making refined sugar a habit altogether.

How much is a pump?
Good lord, I'm glad I'm a cheapskate who cringes at the very thought of paying for one cup of coffee what would buy enough beans to last a fortnight. All this double tall skinny latte frappuccino talk makes my head spin!

at least your vice.......
isn't crack. I say if your pounds aren't packing back on and you are maintaining and not at risk for any medical issues and those 2 pumps satifies your "jones" then you have yourself a relatively sweet-safe cheat.

I'm gonna be the bad guy
You said to be honest...If you are having 2 of those a day then it doesn't sound like you are limiting the refined sugar unless you were having more like 2 per week. And if you are having 2, And I so agree about the money....that is the first thing I thought: That's gotta add up! On the up side, at least your getting a ton of protein and calcium!
And those are soooo good! I love anything and everything pumpkin! You should try the Odwalla Pumpkin protein drink.....really good stuff!!! Although, I'd have to assume they are high in sugar, too.
Yes, cheese plates, yummy! They get me every time, too! And no, usually when I blow it I can get back on track the next day. I usually tend to have 1 blow it day per month. A far cry from my Taco Bell Tuesdays 6 months ago!!
Good job on getting to the gym. Thats what I need to do!

Omg,
what happened to my comment...its missing part of a sentence...it was supposed to say:
And if you are having 2 of those with half the pumps, thats still 50 grams of sugar!
:)

Depends
Depends on what you are trying to do. Like some others may have said, if you are trying to cut out all refined sugars then you are having too much... But in my opinion what you are doing is just fine. Then again I believe you shouldn't deprive yourself of anything you really like, as long as you have it in moderation.

ooh core advice!
Hee! I am so glad to have you back for questions like this! What do you usually eat for breakfast? I love cereal and it's one of the things holding me back from trying core instead of counting and eating mostly whole foods. But I am having fun with the Kashi Pilaf for breakfast this week (it's the "7 whole grains and sesame" but instead of being pre-processed into cereal you simmer in water or broth and eat warm) so I think it's worth a try.

Since you asked..
I'm a strong proponent of all things in moderation. It sounds like you are making a conscious effort to not only limit how often you have them, but you even took the extra step to reduce the amount of syrup they use. I firmly believe too much deprivation can lead to resentment and all sorts of other bad feelings. Why not go with feeling good about yourself for taking what would normally be a bad choice, and turning it into a healthier choice? (Of course, this is all coming from someone who can't make the switch from sugar to sweetner in her daily coffee and is perfectly content to watch things like fat and calories and the thought of too many refined sugars never enters her head at all.)
Good for you on pushing through and hitting the gym this morning!
