Before After

That's Hawt

I've decided to go to Bikram Yoga for the first time tonight (THANKS Serena!) My bosses' wifes go sometimes and we at the office call it HAWT YOGA... should be interesting, wish me luck!

PS, you can see me getting ready for HAWT YOGA in the second picture on the right... lookin good, eh? ;o)

Comments to this post:

please don't hate me!

I just need to send you a big disclaimer that bikram yoga is NOT FUN!  You will hate it (and possibly me) while you're there.  But after the class and a shower, you will feel great.

Plus it burns like 500 calories, so who can complain.

Be fiery, stay fierce.
Serena

btw

Where in Washington do you live?  If you're anywhere near Redmond, the best bikram studio I've ever been to is there.  Great facility, fantastic ppl. Its called Sanctuary Spa & Yoga - I'm pretty sure they have a website somewhere.

I was in Redmond for about 8 months for a project back in 2003 :-)

Serena

HAWT YOGA is RIGHT!

You are lookin' good!  I hope you like Bikram--I'm afraid to try it because I get overheated pretty easily, but it seems really interesting.  Then again since I live close enough to try Serena's studio... :)  We'll see how yoga at the YMCA goes first.

Seriously, you look great!  I'm sure the super guns will get more and more noticeable as you keep losing weight--they're already impressive enough that I am jealous and motivated to build myself some now!

Uhh, Where's Your Waist?

Damn girl, you are fading away!! Keep on doing all kinds of yoga! Your waist is no-existent!! Looking great! Hope you enjoyed the new class! Let us know how it went!

body fat scale

My scale has a setting for "activity level" and when I tell it I'm sedentary it measures me at 30ish%, but when I tell it I'm an athlete it measures me at 20ish%.  Neither one accurate, of course, but I think if you track relative readings you can at least watch the number go down.  When I first started the "athlete" setting measured me over 30% so it definitely improves as you lose!

I did the caliper measurements and a bunch of other fitness measures through my YMCA--I think it's only for members but it was free.  If you belong to any gym they might be able to do an assessment.  I know I did one once at a 24-hr Fitness when they were trying to get me to join.  The most accurate way to test is submersion, but I have no idea how to do that so I'll stick with the calipers and my wacky scale.

If you're dead set on sexy muscles you might want to account for body fat percentage in setting your ultimate goal--for example, mine is at the high end of the WW acceptable range but I feel better knowing that it's because I'm strong (and broad-shouldered) and not because I'm afraid to try for a truly healthy weight.

Did I mention I love your shower curtain?  And your guns? :)
