Before After

Sara the camel has... 2 humps

You will notice that I haven't updated my weight since returning from my vacation. There are a couple reasons for this. 1) I am in a little bit of denial B) I would totally feel as if I were false advertising and III)the current number shown to me on the scale is not correct. For reaslies. I retain water like a camel 'yall---and it ain't always pretty.

I didn't weigh myself at all while we were on vacation, and I sure as hell didn't do it when we got back on Tuesday night. I also couldn't  get up the nerve to do it on Wednesday morning. When I finally braved the scale on Thursday the number was high---as high or higher than I feared. 151.4 to be exact. yikes. I drank water like it was going out of style yesterday and even though I stopped guzzling at 5:30, I still had to empty my bladder 4 more times before bed... and I had to get up and go in the middle of the night too. I was letting go of the water---finally, and this morning weighed in at 148.0.

This is nothing new for me, and I wouldn't be surprised if I am down another pound or 2 tomorrow. I think though that Sunday I will be rid of the excess water enough to call what ever number my "real" weight and work on taking off that gain.

Also on Sunday, I will head back to the gym. My foot is still hurting and in an attempt to let it heal a bit I've been staying away from the gym... but Sunday is a new week, and a new  start on exercising... for the long haul this time!

Thank you all for your awesome words of support and encouragement. I am fully back on the wagon food wise, and am already feeling a lot better. Have a great weekend everyone!

now that song is in my head!

Damn Girl Scout camp.

The more I think about it, the more I should have just left that quote in its original context instead of importing it here.  You're right that it takes a very negative view, and that if we want to have hope for change within our lifetimes it has to be incremental and done through altering existing institutions.  It was very appropriate in the original thread because the website makes a very clear distinction between "womanhood"--which is neither good nor bad--and "femininity," which is an artificial construct that society imposes on women.  If anything, the site is incredibly pro-woman and pro-change.  But I can't take the quote down now without taking away the context for your and Tawa's reactions so I'll leave it be.  I might cross-post my response on the original thread (which was less articulate but also less unambiguously negative) with some kind of explanation/apology.  But in the meantime I'm looking forward to your further thoughts.

I hope the water weight takes its leave, along with any other vacation weight, quickly and without incident.  Take care of that toe . . .

You aren't kidding...

Wow the difference is really big.  That is amazing.  Lesson taught...I will remind myself to drink my water.  What a difference the water is making....Thank you!

Thanks for stopping by my blog.  I do feel great and will continue because I'm so worth every effort!

Stay Strong, Stay Focused and drink plenty of water.  I'll check in with you on Sunday to see the "real" result.

Water Retention

It's good that you know your body well enough to know that you retain a lot of water and let it go, off and on.  Your goal weight is 150 and you're 148 right now, plus you said you might go down again so it sounds like you didn't do badly on your vacation.

Yes, I am going to own this thing on my vacation!  I really want to enjoy myself.  Depriving myself of many of the foods that I will want while I'm there will only make me feel angry and frustrated so I am going to give myself some leeway.  I won't go overboard but I won't necessarily be 100% on plan, either.  That's the middleground and it's ok!

Hope you lose a lump

or two! :)  I retain water like mad too.  It's the most annoying thing ever.  I'm so glad to read that your vacation went well and you enjoyed yourself.  Makes me want to go away somewhere too. WITHOUT kids.

Yep, so I filled up the fridge today.  We went shopping and my 5 yr old told everyone that we have a new fridge and all the food was for the new fridge...we have no secrets. :)

happy!

Hey girl - you look so GOOD on the front page and I also like your new "before" pic!  Way to go..

water..I always need to be reminded about that!

I get that too.

Yes, I get a lot of water retention near and during my TOM, so I try to drink a lot more water during that time.

Don't worry, you'll get right back on track.
