"all you need to do is put a little more effort into it"
today I successfully recorded my food. i also had a long conversation with a friend who tried to convince me that all i need to do to lose weight is "put a little more effort into it." He was actually trying to be helpful, but i found it really distressing. His good idea was that fat people just need to stay on a healthy diet. if they do that they'll lose weight. And if they don't do it, then they're not really serious about losing weight. I tried to explain to him why food is such a hard behavior to change, and why it's hard to be consistent at something like this over a period of months. i didn't make much headway. he said i was just making excuses. i find this really aggravating. i've done lots of hard things in my life. i've accomplished a lot. losing weight is hard for me. other things (including getting a phd, living overseas, giving talks to 100+ people & writing several novels) were fairly easy. i already know it's a problem, right? and i'm trying to address it. i would love to get your thoughts on this.
