Before After

Oh, my goodness, it has been 6 months

Well... where do I start? It has been six months and wow! So, here goes...

I had knee surgery 2 weeks ago and am now in a full leg brace, which stinks. I had a lateral release - they cut through part of the quadracep to release it. There was alot of swelling inside my knee and they cleaned up under the knee cap.

I started having pain in my knee back in April - kind of dealt with it through the summer (I did go see my orthopedic surgeon though) but it did get worse. I saw dr in Sept and he told me to take lots of Advil and if it is still bothering me to come back in a month. Went back and he gave me a cortizon shot in my knee which didnt help either (dont ever believe the doctor when he tells you that this will not hurt, it did). I went back the next month and started P/T for 4 weeks. He then scheduled my surgery (wanted to get it done before the end of the year since my deductable was met earlier this year).

So, now I have been sitting her in what I call my legal drug induced sleep/laziness. I am in this full leg brace which I am now allowed to start taking off but I am not able to bear any weight on my knee so then I have to walk with crutches. It is much easier for me to walk in the brace so I do that. I go back to the surgeon on Friday to find out how long I will be in P/T. He originally told me a few months. Woo hoo! Thank goodness for good medications!!!

My parents have been here for 2.5 weeks to help my hubby out with the kids. That has been great and I have enjoyed spending the time with them, what I remember of it anyways!

I had this same surgery back in 1992 so I kind of knew what to expect afterwards. But 16 years and 35 pounds does make recovery a bit harder!

The kids have been great through all of this and that is quite helpful.

Thank you to twinkletoes807 and kaeliniam for getting me back on here.

Twinkle - I apologize for not getting back to you with the emails, I apologize for that. I did see your latest with the pics (just checking my email now from the past few weeks) and cant wait to see the pics of how much she has grown and changed.

I do wish everyone in EP land a happy, healthy and safe New Year!
