Turkey Neck, Anyone?

I had a really good week, down 3 1/2 pounds!  I had been stalled for awhile through my own evil doings, but I found a new resolve last week.  I hope I can keep it going, but some days it's just hard!

I've noticed that since I've lost weight, the skin under my chin looks looser and kind of puckered.  I hate it!  Anyone else have this problem?  Is there anything that can be done?  I'm so afraid that I will be thin everywhere and have this sagging flesh above my neck.  Surgery would not be out of the question.  If I hate it so much when I have lost all my weight, then it would be a big consideration.  Anyone had any kind of surgery like that?  I live close to Scottsdale, so I would think there would be a plethora of plastic surgeons with this kind of experience!  LOL!

I did pretty good on my FIRM workouts this week.  Tough Tape 2 always kicks my butt, but I think it is really effective.  It's a struggle to get through it.  I need to do it again today.  Has a week already gone by since the last time I did it?

I got to go down to the center court at half-time during the Suns game last weekend.  My name was picked as the "Good Sport" designated driver of the game.  It was pretty cool!  I didn't get to stand next to any of the players, though.  I got to sit on the opposing bench while they were warming up.  I wish the Suns would have been at that end.  Those basketball players look so huge!  I'm tall, so when someone looks big to me, they really are!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Back to it!

Well, I'm back, and not any lighter.  But I did maintain throughout the holidays.  That's always good!  But this week I have a new resolve, so I think I will see some progress.  I did the FIRM Upper Body Sculpt on Monday, the FIRM Lower Body Sculpt on Tuesday, rested on Wednesday, did the FIRM Maximum Cardio Burn with Allie on Thursday, and today I plan on completing the FIRM Tough Tape 2.  I need to get more cardio in, but I don't know what I'm going to do about that.

My mom and sister are coming to visit the end of February.  I love them both, but they tend to be a bit critical.  I would like to lose 10 more lbs. before they come.  I know I shouldn't worry about what they think, but at least it's making me work harder, right?  A few years ago I was visiting at Christmas, and I was at my highest weight at about 210.  A woman in one of the stores hadn't seen me in probably 30 years, and said, "You look just like your mom!"  I told my mom what she had said, and my mom said, "We don't look alike!", in a tone like, "you're fat and I'm not, so we can't possibly look alike!"  I don't know if that's what she meant, but I took it that way, and it hurt!  I guess we all have our family issues.  I guess that's why I'm glad I live a thousand miles away!

My husband and I have been enjoying the Phoenix Suns basketball games.  They are just so fun to watch!  We go to almost all of the home games.  I have a very bad ritual when I go to the games, but I'm convinced that's the only way they will win!  I always get a Peter Piper personal pizza.  That is the best pizza in the world!  The one time we went out to eat before the game, and I didn't get a pizza, they lost to the Washington Wizards!  So, I guess I have to take one for the team!

Happy losing, everyone, and keep up the good work!  I'll try to do better at blogging.  I guess I think I never have anything interesting to say!

October is over!!!

October was a terrible month, weight loss wise.  Other than that, it was pretty much party time!  I had two vacations to two of the most vibrant cities in the US.

My daughter turned 18 this month, so to celebrate, we went to New York City.  What a fantastic city!  The highlight of the trip was the Broadway show "Wicked."  It was great "girl" time.  Lots of food and fun!  I gained 1 1/2 lbs.  But then I lost 2 1/2 lbs. the next week.

Then off to Las Vegas!  My husband had a convention, so I went along for a few days.  Again food and fun!  I performed with "Big Elvis" by shaking my maracas and dancing to "Viva Las Vegas."  I stayed the same weight during that week, so I guess that was good.

So for October, my net loss was about 4 1/2 lbs.  Now I have to get serious!  The holidays are coming up, but we don't have any big plans, so maybe I'll get through these next two months with great success.  I just have to get my head back in the right place.  I was so good at the beginning.  Now I'm in that mode of "this little bit won't hurt."  Then all those little bits start to add up.  I also need to WRITE IT ALL DOWN!  That is really what has worked for me.

I bought a new Firm DVD, Lower Body Sculpt.  Needless to say, my workouts have taken a back seat this month.  The Firm workouts work really well for me.  My butt has really tightened up these past couple of months.  I just need to get back in the habit of getting up and doing them.  It's funny, but I'm more consistent during the week than on the weekend.  During the week, I get up at 5:00 and get the workout done.  On the weekends, I like to sleep in a bit, and then I get up and think, "I'll workout later."  Then it never gets done.  Not tomorrow!  I will get up and get it done!

When I have lost 20 lbs. (I have 4 to go), I'll post before and after pictures.  I'm curious to see the difference.  My face always tends to look fat.  Even when I'm fairly thin, I have that little bit of double chin.  So when I'm overweight, it really hangs down there!

Here's to a great November!  I wish everyone the best of luck staying the course!

A very good day!

I had weigh-in last night, and I lost 3.8 lbs. last week, which puts me at 191!!!  How in the world did that happen?  That is the most I have lost in a week since I started WW 7 weeks ago.  The funny thing is, my eating was pretty terrible last week.

Last Wednesday after weigh in, I was craving a Quarter Pounder with cheese meal.  So I had it.  French fries and all.  That was the first McDonald's I have had in 7 weeks.  It really did taste good!  Thursday and Friday were ok days.  I did have an Arby's French Dip on Thursday and Pei Wei Kung Pao Chicken on Friday.  But on Saturday, I came down with a cold, and I just wanted comfort food.  So, I had all but one slice of a Peter Piper small cheese pizza.  The best comfort food in the world!  I think I also had some M & M's.  I don't remember what else.  Then my husband's birthday was Sunday, so we went out for pasta.  I had several slices of bread (yum!  Can you tell I love my carbs?) and Chicken Parmesan.  Came home to birthday cake and ice cream.  I didn't work out at all over the weekend.

Monday - Wednesday I stayed OP and got my exercise in.  I thought maybe I had managed to lose a pound.  But 3.8 blew me away!  Pizza and pasta as a diet food?  What a great concept!

Then this morning I jumped on our home scale, just to make sure this was real, and I saw 193 1/2.  I thought, why is our scale weighing heavier than WW's scale?  It has always weighed lighter.  Well, silly me, I was reading the hash marks wrong!  I was so used to being in the 190s that I misread 188 1/2 for 193 1/2!  I'm in the 180s!  I haven't been there in years.

A coworker said she could tell I was losing weight.  That's always a nice confidence booster.  Then I went to JC Penney and tried on a pair of Nicole Miller jeans, size 14.  I got them on!  They didn't look that great, but I got them on!  I have a few pairs of 16s that fit right now, so I don't really need to buy anything.  But it's those non-scale victories that keep us going!

I hope everyone else is doing great!  My story may change next week since it will be TOM.  Last month I gained 1/2 lb., during that week, and I really stayed OP.  So we shall see.

Happy losing, all!

I want to see that tracker thingy move

I think I discovered this site by accident, but what a fortunate accident!  I need a place to be accountable and share with others this wonderful ride :0) !

A little about me.... I'm a 47 year-old with two nearly grown kids and a wonderful husband of 26 years.  We make our home here in the Southwest (can't beat the winters here!)  I had always been a thin person.  I actually had a growth spurt between 7th and 8th grade which found me at 5' 8'' and 100 lbs.!  Think giraffe.  I gained 40 lbs over the next couple of  years and grew 2 more inches.  I was active in sports in high school and in college, loved to go disco dancing!  We danced just about every night of the week.  Shakin' that booty kept me nice and trim!

My weight stayed fairly consistent, even with having kids.  The trouble began about 10 years ago when I got a job in the technical field and quit being so active.  Having a Pizza Hut on site didn't help much.  My weight continued to climb, and before I realized it, I was over 200 lbs.  I never weighed near that much even when I was pregnant!  My eating habits were horrible.  I found myself addicted to Pepsi and Rice Krispy treats out of the snack machine.  When it became more and more depressing going shopping for "something to wear,"  I decided enough was enough.  I joined Weight Watchers on 08/16 and have to date, lost 11.4 lbs.  It's been easier than I thought it would be, but now at 6 - 7 weeks, my resolve is fading.

So, I'm making a new commitment, and I'm going to see it through!
