I read this great article, "1 Step Back, 2 Steps Forward" about food guilt when you are dieting. I tend to do that a lot. I beat myself up about eating over my points and stuff even if I didn't mean to. This article really helped me deal with that.
I particular, I really enjoyed this part:
In tennis, losing one point isn’t the end of the world. It happens to the best of them. In fact, if you simply consistently win a few more points that you lose, you may end up in the hall of fame. In weight loss, as long as you’re consistently out-stepping your steps back, you’re ahead of the game. If you expect perfection (and many of us do), you’re setting yourself up for disappointment and guilt.
Guilt can be debilitating to weight loss. When you mess up (or even when things are messed up for you), it’s natural to feel guilty. At that point, you have a choice: to let that guilt plummet you into a cycle that could spit you out worse off than before, or to accept the step back and say "where do I go from here?"
Just because I made a mistake doesn't mean I lost the game. I can still get right back up, jump back on the bandwagon and beat this thing! Anyway, it was very motivating for me.

Good Point
Cindy,
That's a good point. I think that's why so many of us end up gaining weight while dieting. If we mess up, we feel guilt, which leads to eatting more. I think that is how I've put on the weight that I'm trying to lose!
I love your blog, very true what the article says....we shouldn't throw the towel when the WL journey's tough times show up.....WL, especially healthy WL isn't easy......you know why? IF IT WAS; NOBODY WOULD BE FAT!!! :)
Thanks always checking on me, i just edited todays post to add a very inspiring WL story....check it out.
Ingreds. fat-free chocolate, instant, pudding made with 1% milk.6=points
fat-free saltines (30).6=points
1 container, 8 oz., fat-free cool whip-8=p
Cover bottom of small casserole dish with 15 of the saltines. Cover saltines with half of the prepared chocolate pudding.
Put remainder (15) of saltines on top of pudding. Cover with remainder of pudding.
Top all with container of cool whip.
Let sit in fridg. for at least 4 hours to allow pudding to soak into crackers.
Here's the magic part- after the dessert has sat, the crackers taste exactly like a thin layer of either phylo or pie crust. My DH & DS thought they were eating a Neopolitan dessert. I have made it three times in the past week. No one has guessed that saltines are in the recipe.
6 servings// 20 points total-whole recipe.
I copied this from the healthdiscovery.net Weight Watchers forum.
I just read that article, and it really motivated me! I've been having so much trouble with taking steps back...now I just will remember to take two steps forward everytime that happens! Thanks so much for your great posts!
