This summer is flying by, and life is going along fine.
Spent a couple days in Dallas last week for a seminar, and that was fun.
My sister was there, and we had a great time.
Two big things going on with our family in the coming months.
#1 My husband and I both signed up for the Denver half-marathon. *gulp* We will be joining many folks from Transformation in October, and that will be fun.
The transformation team has a goal of raising $100,000.00 for the Make-a-wish foundation. It's going to be fun to be a part of that. Granted, since running is my least favorite exercise, I will be working on a serious mindshift in the coming months. I have 71 days till the event. Wish me well. (please)
#2 My husband got his next orders from the Air Force, and we are moving to CALIFORNIA!!! We will be moving to Vandenber AFB, in Lompoc CA.
Not sure of the exact date for the move yet. We should know that information by the end of the week. Our 4 years at this station ends on New Years eve. Hopefully we won't move before then, but you can never know.
We're really happy about this assignment. (I think. Shelley, any tips? Have you ever been to Vandenberg AFB in Santa Barbara county? Is it a good place? I hope so) From what we've heard, folks say it's a nice base. I can think of quite a few other places that would be worse. I'm soooo thankful we are not headed to an area of the country any colder than Ohio. YAY!!!
Hope all is going well with each of you!

Very cool!
Very cool on the marathon. I was never much of a runner, but now I look forward to it. (Lots of peeking at the t.com sight too... maybe someday soon I'll do more than peek).
You will love Santa Barbara County! What's not to love. I am green with envy as I hope to move back soon when the economy improves and when the hiring freeze at UC schools is a thing of the past.
Best of luck Alicia. I will continue to follow your progress. = )
Hey there! It's been a while. I had to stop by when I saw you were moving to Cali! My hubby had tech school at Vandenberg, and it's really nice! The base is pretty big, and it's close to a lot of cool places.
Our news is that we are being restationed also! We are moving in January to Monterey, CA (the Presidio). So I guess we won't be too far from ya! The hubby is cross-training to be a linguist, and that's where the language school is. Waaaaaaaaaay warmer than Minot!
While I cannot say that I've been to the AFB in Lompoc, I know that Santa Barbara is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in California that you can ever hope to live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its about second best to Coronado or Carmel, in my humble California Native opinion! lol I'd even drive halfway to meet the beautiful GettinFit! In fact, I'm taking my daughter to San Luis Obispo one of these days to scope out the campus.....thats just about maybe an hour North of SB...when will you be moving?
Good luck with everything! You have a lot to be excited about! California, here you come.............!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry to report that I am NO help when it comes to housing at Vandenberg. When my hubby was at tech school there, he lived in the dorms, and I stayed home with my family collecting the BAH (cuz it was only 4 hours away, and we were able to pay off A LOT of stuff if you know what I mean!) So I really have no idea what the housing looks like. All I know is the base is HUGE!
I have come to really LOVE Minot. I'm probably the only one in the world that likes it, but it's just quiet and slow-paced and safe! Totally different from Los Angeles where I grew up. BUT the weather is horrible. I mean, negative 50 is ridiculous. So I will be very happy to be outside year-round!
We're living on base now in Minot since we'll be leaving in about four months and wanted to get our house sold. These are brand new houses, and, yes, they are gorgeous! They're huge. The only negative is that there's no fence for our dog. The waiting list is a year.....But I'm assuming we won't get a new house in Monterey. It's actually an army post there.
