Assignment #2

My challenge is moving along.  Can't believe it's already almost the end of week three!!  Time really does fly.

Have been doing assignment #2, just haven't posted assignment #2 until now.

Assignment #2 is is about exercise.   He asks us to just move at first, then get yourself into a plan.  Some use Body-for-Life.  (Actually, most use BFL)  Some add to it, some take away from it, some do other things all together.

The point is to stay consitant, keep moving forward, and track progress.

here is my assignment #2 post...

exercise

My basic plan for this challenge is to do 3 days of strength training,

and 3 days of HIIT cardio a week.

My "extra" challenge plan is to add a minimum of 2 extra cardio sessions a week. (I have some serious body fat to remove on those thighs)

Strength training:

I am using the selectech weights my brother let me borrow. weights

(thank you Scotty)

I am using a DVD series called CHALEAN Extreme for the first 90 days, and I will finish my challenge in the gym doing BFL.

Have to say at this point, I am blown away by how hard the ChaLEAN workouts are.  I enjoy them very much.

CARDIO:

There are cardio sessions with this workout plan. They are tough too.  I have been doing them, and adding HIIT cardio in as well.  Oh yea...and spinning class too.

My HIIT cardio sessions are mixed.  Stairmill, treadmill, elliptical, spinning, & outside biking.

Outside biking is my absolute favorite, and will be the cardio of choice on days the weather permits.

I will use a volume of CARDIO COACH for each cardio session.

cc

My favorites are volumes 5, 6, 7, & 8.  I bounce between the 4 of those volumes depending on my mood.

Would have to say that 5 and 8 are my favorite now.  8 kicks my hiney!!!

My basic plan is strength training Mon, Weds., and Friday

cardio: Tues., Thurs., Sat.

I will keep track of my exercise on my VICTORY CALENDAR

I will strive to workout before 0700 - 0730 each day!!!

That's the plan.  Am loving it so far.

My thoughts on exercise...

I have always loved to exercise, and I am grateful for that.

  • Started exercising in grade school by playing volleyball and basketball.  Volleyball was fun.  Basketball was fun, but a serious TRAINWRECK.    I would foul everybody being a ball hog.
  • Was a cheerleader in Hs, and ran track for the conditioning and training.  (I am sure not a stellar runner, nor did I set any records.  Was there to honestly be with friends, and challenge myself with the conditioning)
  • At the age of 15 started walking 4-6 miles a night "just for fun" on the hills back home, and did that for years.
  • In high school I liked doing Denise Austin videos in my living room, and calanetics with my sisters.
  • Liked doing step aerobics when it was the craze.
  • Liked Kick boxing when it was in.
  • Liked the exercise part of boot camp when I went to the Aif Force.
  • Like to lift, like to bike, like spinning, like dance aerobics, like yoga, like Zumba, etc....
  • I love working out at home, outside, at the gym, wherever.

I really do like to exercise. I am usually the first that says "hey, lets try this new thing...it looks fun"  Say that not to pin-a-rose on my nose, but say it and recognize it for the blessing it is. Can't imagine my life if I didn't like to exercise.

Oooh....wait...the only thing I really don't enjoy for exercise is running.

*OUCH*  it hurts my crippled left foot.

For most of my life exercise kept me very small.  Only until recently did I exercise and find myself either gaining, or staying in the same place for serious extended periods of time.  (that's another blog for a different day)

Am thankful for exericse though, and I am thankful I love it. I agree with Bill that it's my responsibility to move my body, and take care of my body. Exercise helps my joints, heart, lungs, mind, etc....

When younger, I wanted to exercise to fit into little "daisy duke" shorts.  I wore them for awhile. When I grew out of them, there was one point where I put the daisy dukes on the top shelf of the fridge to keep me grounded in the kitchen.  (talk about a conversation starter when friends were over and reached to get a drink of water our of the fridge)

They thought I was C-R-A-Z-Y!!!!  Crazy

As I've gotten older, the love for exercise is still there, but the motives are very, very different.  (although I do hope to wear some "daisy dukes" around the house after a challenge or two)  Smile

Love to exercise!

Comments to this post:

:)

You are doing so well!  I also love exercise BUT I didn't know it until I was in my 30's!!!  So many negative comments when I was a teenager made me think I was bad at it so I learned to hate it!

...

You are doing amazing!!!  You'll no doubt be wearing those Daisy Dukes!  I'm glad you love exercising!  Me too!!!  It sure helps, doesn't it?!
