Day #24 How Can It Be?!?! (49 days to go)

The last bill of the month arrived today. The Electric Bill. No biggy I was expecting it. It generally ran between $75-$140 What I wasn't expecting was the amount $ 461. 79! We have lived in this house forever and this was the LARGEST bill we have ever gotten! Even when the pool filter and the air conditioning ran during the 100+ heat the largest bill I got was $346.00. I was in shock. 1,823 kWh impossible. It has been rainy and gloomy so no air conditioning has been used until yesterday. I manged to stay calm although my heart was racing and called my hubby. When he got home he went and checked the meter. Edison read the meter on June 15th at it was 9070 today it is 8120! What! Trust me it isn't running backwards. Anticipating a major issues I let hubby handle it, face it Edison wouldn't think a woman could read a meter anyhow. So he called the compared our past usage and hubby told him his meter reading. I assumed they would send someone out to verify the reading but they said, "no", they took his word for it! So they said they would be sending us out a new bill for $93.12!

What does this have to do with diet! A stressful moment and I didn't seek food for comfort! Yippee!

Day #23 PIZZA! (50 days to go)

Well my 17 year old walked in the house at 1pm after college and said, "order me a pizza!" Well I was all for that, I have been cooking 3 meals a day and for the first time in a month we needed to run the air conditioner. I had a moment of hmmmmm sounds good. You will be proud that moment was fleeting. I mean it was so fleeting that it was out of my head before the period LOL. I waited to eat my Nutri-System food until the pizza arrived so we were all eating at the same time. I then wrapped up the left-overs in foil so it could not be seen or smelled and refrigerated it! Yipeee victory.

Then there was a knock on the door. Vector control reminding all pool owners that the weather will be getting warm and to start running filters so to prevent mosquito issues. Yipee hubby and son ran right out to the pool and got to work. Cross your fingers for warm weather I love to swim laps for my summer exercise. Vector control will be out to check pools next week.

Yesterday I got a jury duty summons. I have contacted my MD for my excuse. I suffer from atrial fibrillation and are on 6 meds some of which require frequent restroom stops. I live in a community of 300,000 and the county seat of the largest county in the USA. The walking the crowds and the chaos is enough to cause anyone's heart to fibrillate. So far I haven't heard back from him. My hopes will be that this will be the last year I have to make this request next year 100+ lighter will result in a reduction of medication & ease of mobility.

So that's it for day #23, chat with you tomorrow, Gee

Day #22 Weigh-In Week 3 (51 days to go)

Lost 5 Pounds
Total Lost 31 Pounds

Day #21 Haven't Been to the Grocery Store In 3 Months (52 more to go)

I was just thinking as I walked through the kitchen that it has been a long time since I went to the grocery store. This is a good thing, I find them way to tempting. I was told a long time ago not to go grocery shopping on an empty stomach. In theory is you are less apt to buy impulse items if you are full. That may work for some it never did for me. Hey if I stopped eating when I was full I wouldn't be in the situation I am in now. So 3 months ago I asked Hubby if he would do the grocery shopping. I am so blessed my husband enjoys shopping and prides himself on making good choices in produce and finding good deals. I make a list, as I still do all the cooking, and he is great at getting what I ask for. If in question he will call me on the phone and I will direct him around the store in order to fill my request. This has made a HUGE difference in my ability to stay on-track. The Lord blessed me with an extremely supportive Hubby.

The grandkiddos ended up spending the night. I managed a whole 30 minutes sleep. They slept but none of them at the same time. Just when I got the 8 month old asleep the two year old woke up. So when my son collected them at 9am I took a 4 hour nap, so it has been a lazy day.

The New Game. Everyone had to try it.

Someone slept!

Day #20 Grandkiddos (53 more to go)

Well I got up and it was raining. UGH Can you believe June 13 and it is still gloomy and overcast. The last week of school was in the high 90's and ever since it has been no higher than 70 with clouds, rain and thunder. I am thankful for my inside exercise equipment because the pool is still out of the question. I can not swim in 60-70 degree water and don't like going in the pool with the lightening.

Anyhow getting ready for the kiddos means cleaning the house. Funny because about 5 minutes after they get here is doesn't look like it has been touched. The first thing Andrew does it head to the toy box we have for them in the den and take everything out of it. With Abby a crawler I vaccuumed twice, I cleaned the bathroom, did the dishes, dusted and put everything they can't touch out of reach.

Then I rushed off the Walgreen's and got them some new items for their toy box. Andrew got some new cars and a Mickey Coloring Book with jumbo crayons (Anna won't let him touch hers), also something they can draw on with a majic wand and a picture appears. It is self contained and wipes clean when you shake it, kinda like a Itch-e-Sketch except it is colored. I got two so there is no fighting between siblings. Then Anna got a Princess Gem fishing game I will play with her while Andrew does cars and Abby plays in the pen. I got Abby three colorful little tikes toys a rattle, a teather and a gym. Hopefully that will keep them busy.

NSV (non-scale verification) I noticed walking around the store today I was not short of breath, I did not hurt and I didn't need to push the cart. Generally if I don't push the cart my back and hip hurts. I let Free push it, he still needs it .

Well it is 3:30 and I just sat down to eat my vegetable beef soup by NutriSystem, it is the bomb.

Day #18 Feeling The Difference (55 more to go)

Today I got up feeling different. Not sure I can see the change but I can definitely feel it. My clothes are starting to fit better, my pant ride higher on my waist. I have new found energy and my focused has changed. My focus is no longer on food. The first 15 days it was all about the food, getting used to less, spacing the meals to maximize my metabolism. Today I found myself focusing on moving to maximize my metabolism, planning short 15 minute exercise sessions throughout the day. Even caught myself wiggling and dancing to music during the commercials.

Today there is no more doubt I am going to do this. Looking forward to weigh in day Monday.

Day #17 A Nutri-System Meal - Picture (56 more to go)

Many have wondered just what a Nutri-Systen meal is like. So last night I took a picture of what I ate for dinner. This is what they call tacos. I California we call then Tostados. Anyhow you get the shells and the meat mixture which is dehydrated. You need to know that Nutri-System food requires no refrigeration or freezing. You mix the meat with 1/2 cup water and microwave. It is real good spicy chili flavor. There is plenty to cover each shell. With this program you need to add at least 3 servings of fruit and veggie and 2 non-fat dairy. I take a non-fat cheese slice and break it up and divide it on the shells and put the hot meat sauce on top. I then topped with lettuce mix & jalapenos (I was out of tomato). I ate this and a whole ruby red fresh grapefruit for dessert.

I took this before I topped the last taco so you could see the meat coverage. The cheese is underneath.

Oh and I am back to ridding my recumbent bike!

Day #16 Left-over Birthday Cake (57 more to go)

Well on the counter in the kitchen sits 1/4 of the moistest double homemade yellow cake with fudge frosting. I can't throw it out, it isn't mine. So this is where "Beck's Workbook" has come to the rescue once again. Last night at 2am I found myself the only one awake in the house. Since I am on vacation I often get caught up watching a movie after the boys have gone today bed. I love the peace and quiet of the late night hours. Then it hits me I am hungry! Hmmmm left-over steak with mushrooms and onions, salad with a rich creamy dressing, homemade sour dough Texas Toast or yummy cake all left-over from hubby's birthday dinner. I actually got up, walked in the kitchen, opened the refrigerator with every intention of having a meal when I glanced over and saw my Nutri-System items laid out for the day ahead. I thought, "What am I doing, this is NOT my food." I then grabbed a bottle of water and headed back to the den with plans to avoid the kitchen until breakfast time. The movie ended at 2:30am I showered and went to bed. The hunger totally subsided until 10am breakfast time. It wasn't hunger was it? it was a craving. I am slowly undoing bad habits one day at a time.
