May update

Well, it's official. I love my gym. I've been going for 2 1/2 mo now, been trying out new classes, experimenting with different routines and I'm starting to find me nitch.

I go everyday during the week. I've been finding running on m/w/f with strength training & yoga on tue & thurs. It give my shins a break, since I can't seem to keep the shin slips away. The more I get into shape, the better they are feeling and quicker they're healing.

I love yoga! Ultra stress reliever for me more then anything else, but the stretching and strengthening are great for my running too.  I recently starting attending this Body Pump class. It's weightlifting for your entire body in one great class.

Running is coming along slowly but surely.  I know it's not much, but I'm up to 3 miles feeling good. One of my favorite things about running is the progress you get to witness in the concrete evidence of your distance and time.  It's definatly not easy day to day, but the end result in so cool. (reminds me of pregnancy! lol)

Dieting isn't as strict as I know I can be, but all and all it's not bad. I've been able to keep losing, so I must be doing something right, huh? lol. I'd like to be ultra dedicated this next week since we're going on vacation the following week. Not only is it a beach vacation, so just one last week to drop maybe another couple lbs, but I also know I'll be on vacation and dieting will go out the window that week, so I'll compensate a little he week before (and probably after too!)

I would really like to try to get a better nights sleep. I've been experiencing a bit of insomnia going to bed. I'm sure alot has to do with DH not being there next to me. :-( but maybe some sort of calming tea or nighttime routine would help. I'm definatly tired, but I still seem to have difficulty falling asleep.(Any tips are greatly appreciated!)

WHEW!!!

Ok, so I've been checking out the local gyms around here, and I think I've found one that would be best for me. DH had off today, so we went together, with both kids, to check it out.

Dropped the kids off at the childcare center. Easy, nice, and free!  The trainer who gave me to tour and schpeel on the place come over and gave the same schpeel to dh. Went weel. DH thinks it's a good idea, especially with him deploying for 6 weeks, then again for 4 weeks, then again for 7 months (all before September, thank you very much) so I won't have a ton of opportunities to work out, especially with no help with the kids (and no break from them, might I add!...I'm sorry, as much as we love our children, sometimes, you just need an hour to yourself! Whew!)

So, the gym seems like the best answer for us. Time to work out, free childcare, variety of things to do, a stress relief when I need it, excellent rescources to help me train for the marathon, and it's great location & seemingly intimate gym. I think we'll be happy with our membership there.

DH and I ran on the treadmills for 30 min and then did some butt kicking isotonic poses. Whoa! I'm ready for a shower and bed now! I'm going back this week to officially sign up and get started. I hope it ends up being what we want from it.

Ciao for now!

Alli update

Ok, so I started taking Alli, and I was cautious like crazy the first couple of days. I was literally scared of explosive results if I even came near something bad for me. After a few days I realised it's not quite the drama it's hyped up to be. mostly because I eat fairly well, I don't even like most fried food, which is thier big warning.

Well, I noticed as the week progressed (I've been taking it for 5 days now) I because less and less scared of "the results" and became more brave in my eating habits, thinking "the results" would be flushed away, so why not. Needless to say, I've only dropped one pount this week, and I'm convinced it's because I began to lean on the pill to do the work for me. I cheated, pretty much exclusively, in the sweets department, which is admittingly my downfall, especailly after dinner. Ugh!

Ok, so re-grouping and re-stratigizing, I feel like I can totally learn from this and use it to my benifit. Alli was not cheap, and I don't want to flush my money away (literally!)  DH leaves next saturday for 6 weeks, and I'm determined to have outstanding results when he returns! He's also given me the green light to join a gym and persue my goal of a marathon in November. High five for getting back on track!

Any future Alli uses out there, be warned and prepared for little things like this in you use of the product. I wish you all well!

Alli

Ok, so tomorrow I am starting Alli. I know it may be a bit controversal, but I'm dieting and running, so I'm in a good place to be trying it out.

Anyway, I'm not here to defend it, but I would like anyone experiences with it? My best friend used it a few months back, so I get her review and suggestions on it, so I'm just hoping to gather as much personal hands on experience with it as possible.

If YOU have taken Alli, I'd really appreciate a little blurb about your experience with it. The good, the bad & the ugly....as long as it's just your experience with it. I'm not looking for a debate or disscussion about the product, please.

Thanks everyone! Best of Luck!

sick

Ok, so my weight loss has been at a stand still for 2 weeks now. I fell ill with influenza followed quickly by my 3 yo, then my 5 mo old!  We're all finally starting to feel better, so I'm getting back on track with my journaling. When I don't do it, I can't keep an honest track of my intake, so I'm gonna dust off my notebook and start up again.

I also think I'm going to start running again. I think I'll call my neighbor girl and make some arrangements for her to start comming over again. I'm going to start with twice a week and ease my way back in. I'm also going to add yoga twice a week as well. I feel so stiff and un-limber (is that even a word?) Anyway, I think those two would be realistic & benificial for me right now.

weightloss goal for friday = 1 lb

weightloss goal for next week = 3 lbs

Sigh

Just a quick entry cause after the wonderful, but rushed holiday season, I managed to eat myself silly, and I feel like crap cause of it, plus gained 2-3 pounds. Sigh. Couple more days and I'm skinny-bound...in the mean time, I'm gonna try to flush my body of all the greasy a sugary foods I ate. Any suggestions??

goal?

Ok, so I've been doing pretty good these last couple of weeks. I didn't think I stood much chance of being 140 before the new year, but I'm starting to see the little light. lol.

To be honest, I feel like I've been too busy to eat! Somedays, I sit down to dinner with DH and say "oh gosh, I forgot to eat lunch!" It's not the best way to control that metabolism, but for now, that's just how it is!

We're going to Buffalo for Christmas, but when we return, I'll be going back to work, so new routines will begin with that and hopefully, the baby will start sleeping through the night!! Good Lord, this little boy has me going crazy! lol.

Alright, DH's birthday is tomorrow! Gonna go make him a chocolate cake! (Thank goodness I don't like chocolate cake!)

Thanksgiving

Ok Thanksgiving....sigh...I guess I didn't do too horrible. I ran in a turkey trot that morning....left me feeling really good the whole day. I didn't watch what I was eating too much, however, I avoided the snacking and picking that takes place while your cooking. Wasn't too hard, just had a crown put on the day before. Ha Ha!

I managed to sip on wine insted of pick at food or goodies. Left me skinnier and drunk-er...lol! Over all it was a nice holiday. I didn't feel like a total pig, having run the race, but I didn't deny myself certain treats, just smaller portions.

I'll do my best to make up for any lost ground this week and the rest of the weeks between now and new years so I don't feel like I miss out too much on the holiday yummies!

I've signed up for a jungle run. 5k. No sweat! :) Did you know the average american gains 7lbs between thanksgiving and new years? Yikes!

Weigh in on wednesday - not expecting to lose, just hoping I havn't gained! Gulp!

140's....yeah!!!

Yeay!! I hit the 140's today!! It was very nice to see a 4 following the 1!! It has been a looooong time sine I've seen that, and it feels good!!

I went for a run yesterday and it felt so good. I had run 0.8 out and walked back home last time and felt like it pretty much kicked my butt. DH told me I should walk out and run back, so I thought I'd try it, but I also wanted to add on to my distance since I'm feeling the pressure of the turkey trot creeping up fast! I walked 0.4 out, and ran 1.6 back. Felt great! Nice and slow and steady the whole way, real relaxed....wish I could feel like that every run....I'd probably enjoy doing it more often.

I have to admit though, I turned my babysitter away today. :( It was so gorgeous out, I decided I'd take a walk with my kids instead to let them enjoy the nice weather too, but low and behold, shit happend which inevidably led to me getting no exercise at all..big surprise. Next time, I will get my run in either way, and go for a walk with my kids after, or just let my daughter run circles in the yard while I do my streches and abs after. No more neglecting me!!!!! I want my 1/2 hour a day....I'm entitled and I will not excues it away anymore! (Whew)

Moto

In the Marine Corps, the term "moto" is used alot. "Motovation" referring to someone being "gung-ho" about something, enthusiastic, full spirited.

I can't say I have this naturally pouring from my veins, so I need a little help.

I hired a babysitter to watching my little darlings for an hour in the afternoons so that I can run my butt off (litteraly!) She's a young HS girl, lives two houses down from us, and is willing and able to come over after school everyday she is available.

This is my moto!

I also bought a new ab's DVD (yes, yes, we all know these things are for the most part a waste of money since we all typically use them a couple times before they get shoved to the back on the DVD rack never to see the light of day again.....but again.....new moto.)

I'm also having a few other more suttle & personal moto's...such as starting to see a little difference in me, dh writting out a workout plan for me (I don't want to let him down) and my baby hitting 3 months old (getting too big for me to excuse my extra weight away!)

I have to say, I'm diggin this website's weight tracker. Gives me a nice visual or my progression as well as a little more moto to be accountable for.

All in all, I think I'm going to be ok. I have a new mini goal. I'd like to be under 142 by Christmas. Last post pregnancy dieting took place in Jan after the holidays and my start weight back then was 142. If I can be at that, I will be on the right and familiar track for this weight loss.

Immediate goal: I'm going for a strong, big week in annticipation for thanksgiving next week. I won't be as bad as I could allow myself to be for thanksgiving, but I'm not nieve in the fact that I'm going to end up tasting the goodies. Running the turkey trot that morning I think  will help, but in preparation, I'm all about this being a big week....just for this week, just for this week...big, strong week!!!
