Before After

Reflection

WI is tomorrow.

I hope hope hope to break 200!  I was almost perfect this week, the exception being the Indian pig-out last weekend.  Hopefully  the rest of the week undid that, plus.  We'll find out in the morning.

Wish me luck!!

A minor blip

So, last night wasn't great.  DH and I walked to an Indian restaurant, which is a good distance away (1 mile or so each way).  We have been taking lots of long walks to restaurants, where I eat a bit more then usual because I earned it by walking.  Kinda a carrot and stick thing.  Well, yesterday's dinner wasn't a carrot...it was 1 1/2 samosas and two plates heaped with vegetarian Indian food.  And 3 pieces of naan!!

Oh well...if I am perfect the rest of the week, I should be just fine.  No worries...just kinda silly of me.

My goal is so close that I can TASTE it!

I lost 2.4 lbs. this week, putting me at 203.4...3.4 lbs. from my original Nov 2004 goal of 200!  After such a long road, it is amazing to have the end in sight!

I must qualify this by adding that I would ideally like to end up at 160, and that I am waiting to reach 195 before celebrating reaching goal (by eating like a pig, of course.  All-you-can-eat Brazilian churrasceria, here I come!)

Within 2 weeks (maybe even one), I hope to post jubilantly that I have reached my original goal!!!!!

Went out...had drinks...no sweat!

I was a very good girl today!

I went out for a drink after work with some friends...I had 2 light beers (200 cal) and compensated elsewhere in my diet so that I am not having more than 1500 cal.  My friends munched on cheese cubes and mozzarella sticks...I grazed on carrots and celery.  I kinda would have preferred mozz sicks, but I am in strict mode until I hit 195!

Good to know that it is possible to do this without it being problematic...I have never gone along when invited before because I was concerned I'd cheat.

WI tomorrow.....This was a very good week, almost perfect.  The scale gods had best smile on me tomorrow!

Something truly awful...

This has nothing to do with weight loss...but I really want to mention this.  One of my former students was shot in the stomach and killed in a bank robbery on the South Side.

He was the sweetest, gentlest kid.  I taught in a rough school in a scary neighborhood, and Tramaine was one of the few kids who stayed out of trouble.  I am so saddened by this.  I feel so sorry for him, and the wife and 2 kids he left behind, and his parents.

I never cease to be stunned by the cruelty people are capable of.

Size 16!

I bought my first 16's today...a pair of pedal pusher jeans.  They are cute and a little stretchy (which is probably why they fit me).  I only plan to lose about 10 more lbs. before going into a holding pattern, so these should get me through the summer!

Fitting into smaller sizes sure is fun.

Small steps...

I lost a whopping 1 lb this week.    Psssh.  I guess I should be pleased, but I was SO good this week.  I hoped my hard work would produce better results.  Next week is water retention week, so I hope I'll still be able to break 200 by the end of school on June 7th.

My consultant told me today that I look no more than 170 lbs.  She then had another client guess my weight, and she said 160!  At least I hide it well.  For the first time in a long time, I don't feel like I need a "wide load" sign above my rear end.

My 18 jeans are getting big!  It will be cool to finally be a 16 on the bottom.  I'm a 14 on top...it's the bootyliciousness that gets me.  Baby got back.

Anyhow, I hope this week is a good one.

Mother's Day foodage

Yesterday went well.

My portion control wasn't the greatest, but I did extremely well making wise choices.  Brunch was a dry egg-while omelet with spinach and feta with a toasted bialy, and a light Espresso Frappuccino (yum!).  For dinner, I ate salad, asparagus, boneless skinless broiled chicken, and strawberries.  For a snack, I had my Jenny Craig cheesecake.

Onward, ho!

(no, I am not calling anyone a ho)

Awwww...yeah!

I weighed in today at 206.8, for a loss of 3.4 lbs. this week!  Woohoo!  This was an unusually challenging week, too, what with the omnipresent birthday cake in the department office, the munchkins that were sitting there one day, the ginormous chocolate chip cookies a student brought me (which I abandoned in the kitchen), the blueberry pancakes my boss made, and the teacher appreciation luncheon, which I avoided (with the exception of popping in to swipe some bottled water).  Yowza!

OK...the goal is in sight!!!    I am going to do this thing!!

A small victory.

This morning, my boss and the secretary of my department came by with a cart of goodies...muffins, juice, and so forth, for teacher appreciation week.  To be polite, I took a muffin and juice...and when they left, I gave it to one of my students.  I was really hungry (as per usual)...but who knows how many calories were in that muffin?  Muffins can be 500 calories a piece!  This one was small, but one might as well be careful.

So, now I sit here with empty, rumbling tummy.  But, I resisted temptation, which is a small "win".  These little wins do add up, just like little slip-ups add up.  I am really gunning for the ones...maybe in 2-3 weeks?  My fingers are crossed...

Well, I am off to try to take the edge off my hunger with some tea.
