Before After

Baby step forward/Trader Joe's substitution list

I lost 0.8 this past week, putting me at 203.6.  I am totally fine with that, as I had two pretty bad days this week.  A small step in the right direction is a success.

On another note:  Anybody else like Trader Joe's?  I substitute JC foods with Trader Joe's ALL the time.  However, I count calories and not exchanges, so that makes it easier.  Here are some of my favorite substitutions:

Breakfasts:

Blueberry waffles (100 cal each)
Steel-cut Oatmeal (150, I think)
Banana Waffles (120 each?)

Lunches/Dinners:

Soba Noodles (200 cal!!!  And it's vegan, too)

All around 300 cal:

Hummus Wrap
Roasted Vegetable Enchiladas (plus salsa and FF sour cream)
Grilled Eggplant Parmesan
Balela (Chickpea/parsley/mint/bean salad)
Ginger Peanut Noodle Salad (1/2 container mixed with salad...yum!)

Now these have a lot of fat, so they are kind of a cheat, but great for a decadent meal without too many cal...all of these are around 300:

Potato Pancakes (eat these with fat free sour cream and unsweetened apple sauce)
Chicken Quesadilla
Mexican Veggie Quesadilla
Clam Chowdah
Tomato Basil Bisque
Butternut Squash Soup (a caloric bargain, 200ish)
Split Pea Soup (vegan)

I am probably not remembering everything, but these tend to be cheaper than JC entrees and at least as good, often better.

Hope that list is helpful to some of you!

Anyhoo, that's all fer now, folks.

Skinny vibes to one and all!

Love TJs, too!

Oh my gosh - I love Trader Joes.  The garlic hummus I could eat with my fingers.  I love the pineapple or peach salsa with some steamed veggies.  The sweetness and spiciness is great.  I'm trying to get away from hydrogenated oils and TJs price for Earth Balance margarine is great.  I also like the maple flavored yogurt.  Ok, and the Greek-style honey yogurt is better than any ice cream.  The frozen rolled tacos are pretty good, too.  Oh, and the molasses and the ginger cookies.  YUM.  (gotta stop - too late at night to be thinking cookies)
I've got to try the Soba Noodles and all the soups.  (and huzzah for a weight loss)

TJs = Yummy!

When I lost weight on WW's 5 years ago we discovered TJ's and I used to get a lot of stuff there, but we really haven't shopped there in quite awhile.  Obviously I need to check it out again!

Congrats on your loss this week - onederland is in reach for both of us!!

Wish I Had One

I love trader joe's but we don't have one around here.  The closest one is 2 hours away.  However, a Whole Foods will be opening up in a few months (late spring, i think) in my area.  The closest Whole Foods to me is also 2 hours away (it is right across the street from TJ's.  Go figure.

out of curiousity

do you eat any JC meals anymore?  I can't wait until I get to maintenence and I get 35% off!  I am on Jenny Rewards.  What JC foods do you keep eating since you made goal?  I think I will probably keep buying the breakfasts! YUMMY!
