I've been living an INSANE life lately. If everything can go wrong @ once, it has. Everything from attempted car-jacking (I'm fine & still have the car -- that's what I get for buying a cheap old but very cute roadster,) to a foot injury that makes it impossible to walk if I try to run, which I stupidly did earlier in the week & I'm still limping. I have no idea if I have money b/c I refuse to look at my account. Loaned a friend $100, but I won't see it again, so I should say "gave a friend $100" & wish I could redo that since I think I need that cash. The cats are fighting, my heat in the condo is wacky & oh, I need car repairs...
There's more, but that's boring.
At the moment I'm struggling again w/ the binge eating. I've not purged, but I will admit to it being on my mind. The answer is not to binge in the first place, so I MUST get a grip on my emotions & stop stuffing my neediness w/ food. I think it's officially time to start meeting men again.
Anyone ever done online match-making things? I know one has & she met her wonderful hubby that way. She's my idol in this dept. At nearly 40, I just don't know other ways to meet men, honestly! I'm certainly not going to hang out in bars, and the ones in which I work seem full of young partiers rather than mature men.
I seriously should go just try e-Harmony. I need to get a good picture though. Hmm. I'm scheming. Maybe my sister can whiten my teeth through photoshop or something (But seriously, I really need an extreme dental make-over. Wish I could sue the makers of Tetracycline that made my teeth nearly GRAY as a child.)
Well, I lost 1.4 this week, so I'm grateful. 3 of 7 bad days make it rather miraculous, but I needed to see a loss twice in a row, and now I have. Maybe that will help me outta my tailspin. That & I got two new cookbooks (like I actually use them, but I take the basic idea & fit the recipe to my taste/nutritional needs.)
Found an AWESOME recipe for "fake udon" on the vegan site I visit. Gonna try that tonight if I get to the grocery (which I must.)
And finally...What's your favorite brand of calcium-fortified soy milk? I need a good one -- oh, and fat-free as well. I'm having trouble finding calcium & fat free in soy...
Well, another random list -- Any tips on the e-meeting thing MUCH appreciated.
Hugs, Ella

Hi Ella. Congrats on the loss!! You are catching up with me...I must get on the ball!!! lol
I started a new Biggest Loser Challenge since SweetPeaTwins is MIA. I hope you can/will join. WE will keep you going!!!
I am glad to see you are OK. I have also been in an attempted car jacking...about 15 years ago. Scary.
I will check on you later...keep blogging!!! (It keeps food out of your hands!- well, sometimes!) LOL
I met my hubby that way! I had to wade through a lot of frogs that way before I found him, though. It's interesting. We could easily have been in the same place at the same time dozens of times, but we would never have met because he's so shy. The internet can be useful! Be careful, though. I used the Salon.com personals. Give it a try!
I met my hubby online! We would have NEVER met any other way as he lived in Farnborough, Hampshire, UK and I lived in Podunk Arkansas--but I knew I was moving to London when I met him. We used a site called udate. Good things can happen through online dating. Just be careful. But you know that, don't you!
Sorry life has been a bit crap lately, Miss Ella. Just keep breathing!
Oh, guess what. In Amsterdam I got this fabulous statue of Jesus in a shop that specialized in Christian icons and symbols. I plonked it straight onto my shrine when I got home. It's lovely. I also found a little Tibetan singing bowl in a free trade shop. It's sitting right there on the little table as well. Now I've got two pillar candles, a photo of hubby, one of my parents and one of my son, my Jesus statue, two Buddhas, a Tibetan incense burner with the 8 auspicious symbols on it, a rosary, a Buddhist mala, a wooden holding cross and the little singing bowl. It's a wonderful menagerie! What does your meditation spot look like?
So glad you survived the near car-hijacking! Such a crappy thing to have happen though. Congratulations though on your silver medal! Hope your foot mends soon and we get to see your gold medal soon! Good luck with the dating!
I have done the online thing. It can be really fun, but also nerve racking. But, it can also be a great way to widen your social circle. Lots of cool people I know are from online friend of friends.
Original: 60 cals, 0 fat, and 30% daily value of calcium per cup
Vanilla: 70 cals, 0 fat, and 30% daily value of calcium per cup
I always prefer the original or plain versions, but each to his own. In general, I have found that I am happy with the flavor of anything by Silk, 8th Continent and VitaSoy (which I have only seen on the shelf (not in the cooler). Although it's not fat-free, my favorite of all the soymilks I have tried is probably:
Silk Unsweetened, plain = 80 cals, 4 grams/6% fat, 30% calcium per cup
I am just not a big fan of sweets so the unsweetened works great for me. Anyway... carjacking, scary. coming out of it physically unharmed, good. hope things are going well for you now.
I'm taking a moment to say thanks to all the people who have encouraged me since I started my blog. I see you have not posted in a while, so I hope things are still going OK for you. Let us hear from you!
HEY ELLA I MISS YOU!!!! LONG TIME NO HERE FROM! GLAD YOUR STILL ON THE JOURNEY! DON'T WORRY YOU HAVE DAYS LIKE WHEN YOU JUST WANT TO BINGE EAT BUT ITS OKAY YOU ARE DOING GREAT AND YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE YOUR GOAL! TAKE CARE !!
Yep, it happens that one can find a man online. I met mine 11 yrs. ago as of tomorrow. He instant messaged me via AOL. I was NOT looking at the time.. Go figure!
I have friends on Plentyoffish.com and datehookup.com, which are free. They have met some good, bad, and some in between.
Other sites like meetup.com offer groups for mutual interests, rather than dating. You might join an interest group and meet someone along the way.
