New Week - New Me!

Getting off on the good foot.  Just seeing what this week may bring.  I never know - isn't that crazy! I can plan all I want, but it is going to do what it do (life).   I guess it wouldn't be that "fun" if we knew what was going to happen.  When I know the ending of a movie, it's not as good as when I'm kept in suspense.  Gonna try to drink more water and stick to my guns with eating.  I do pretty good through the week if I say so myself.  I did have a coke on Saturday.  Well not even a whole can and probably not a half, but I don't drink them like I use to (1 or 2 a day).  I try to take a water bottle with me everywhere.  Over the weekend is my thing.  It's like my mind and body go into relaxation mode.  I think I have a trick up my sleeve though.

I didn't go walking again yesterday either, but my mom has a Gazelle (exer. equip.) and I got on that for about 30 mins.  I didn't feel comfortable - it was out of my league vs. the track I usually walk on.  I was like - nobody ain't getting no workout from this junk.  The clock is showing 30 mins but the miles aren't even showing that I did a mile.  The calories are saying about 67 burned - or that's the last I saw.  Uuuugh- this is not worth it.  But as soon as I stepped myself off, my legs felt like jello.  They were squabbling and wabbling all over the place. I guess that workout worked huh.  I didn't want to do anything immediately after.  I had out done myself.  I will never underestimate the power of another piece of exercise equipment in my life -lol!

Note:  Oatmeal is really filling and I didn't even butter and sugar it up -that much as I usually do. It wasn't that good b/c I didn't doctor it up.  But I ate it and went on to church.  I was solid and wasn't even hungry when I got out of the meeting just after noon.  I need to do that more often.  I brought some grapenut cereal too.  I heard fiber is really filling and good for your body.  Anyways, I thought I remember liking it as a child. Well I have it now and didn't really care for it.  I think I need to buy some fruit to add to it.  We will see.  It wasn't that bad, but not that good either.  I just can't see myself eating something I don't like - I just can't do it.

Well, my  family reunion is on the 18th.  It will be here where I am, so really no biggie.  I wish it was out of town like last year.  It was just in Alabama, but we don't get out much so that would have been fun.  I love road trips.  But I'm taking a trip (for work) to Charlotte, NC on the 25th for a week.  So that's exciting since I've never been there before.  I hope it goes well.

Happy Monday everyone!

Welcome to NC!

I know it's early but I wanted to welcome you to my wonderful state!  I hope you enjoy it here!

Ideas to make oatmeal more palatable (maybe)?

Hi, and many thanks for your positive comment on my blog.  Right backatcha! I LOVE NC! I was born there (Jacksonville) and lived there 'til age 5.  I could easily live there again; it's beautiful country!  I've never been to Charlotte, but it's my company's headquarters and people I talk to here say it's lovely in Charlotte, too.  Enjoy your business trip; also your reunion.  (I LOVE Florida too -- no SNOW -- YEAH!)

About the oatmeal.  I ate a LOT of this stuff over the winter, and let me tell you, I was getting pretty sick of it.  So I started dressing it up a bit, with sugar- free maple syrup and/or some chopped walnuts, or maybe another time with the Splenda blended brown sugar and some raisins, then spraying I Can't Believe it's not Butter Spray and putting a little fat-free half & half on the top.  1/2 a sliced banana is nice, too, if you think you might like that.

That Gazelle sounds scary! ( Girl, stay OFFA that thang!)  At least until you're feeling more comfortable.  You don't want to overdo it or get hurt!

Have a GREAT week!  (carole in Boston, xO)

Way to go!!!

Good job for maintaining 30 minutes on the Gazelle.  Some machines  can fool you:  You may not feel the burn at that moment but  you will feel the burn later.    I love oatmeal,  It's like  the best food to eat  anytime or when you have  to eat something quick but not heavy.

I prefer the kind with the apples, or peaches in it.   You know you can also add a scrambled egg white  or boiled egg to to your meal for protein.  Combine both and you will really stay full.    Way to go on taking water everywhere with you.

Hey there

thanks for stopping by my blog.  Nice to meet you :) I'm a FL native but moved to AZ 4 years ago and wouldn't dream of going back.

Try the high fiber oatmeal from quaker or the weight control oatmeal.  both are so good and only 160 calories.  All bran w/yogurt clusters cereal is really good and high in fiber.  The fiber one honey clusters cereal is another good one chock full of fiber.  Fiber one yogurt has 5 grams in a little cup and tastes great.  I like to buy the high fiber english muffins and put an egg or two on it. Keeps me full for 5 hours on average. Great breakfast or lunch.

Have a fantastic week.

Ribs!

So, I'm guessing you like ribs! LOL Just a little bit! Yea, I love ribs, too! And I know for sure I could eat a whole slab, too!!!!!

Oatmeal? I don't like it as much as ribs..... I know its like one of the most perfect foods, especially if you add blueberries or something. Its really filling, too. But I just can't get myself to eat it!! I'm gonna work on that.

Good job on that machine. It does sound scary. Keep chuggin' your water! Keep it up!

I feel you!

I totally understand the oatmeal thing. lol I have the same problem with bran cereal. I know it's good for you, but it's hard to eat without putting sugar in it.

By the way, my hubby is from Tallahassee. Lived there all his life, and went to Florida State. :)

Gazelle

Hahahahahaha!  Reading about your Gazelle experience made me bust out laughing.  My mom bought one years ago and I remember getting on that thing and thinking it felt like I wasnt doing anything, just swinging along. MY GOD! when I got off I think I was sea sick or something from the motion of that thing.  My legs were jello too and I was a little light headed and dizzy.  I didnt use it anymore    Good job on being brave and trying something new though!
