Billy Bands Suck!

So, yesterday, I did the basic training video again in my new Tae Bo set that I got.  It was my second time doing the workout.

When it came time for the bands, I put them on my feet and adjusted the right one. I went to adjust the left one and KAPOW! the band BROKE!

How cheap is that?

So... I'm going to call Collage video and get some new bands.  I'm really  hoping that I won't have to pay for them - they are $15 on the billy blanks site!

I continued and did the workout without the bands.  It was still a good workout and I did get a good sweat going.  It's mostly strength training, but I did feel my heart rate go up.

My abs aren't strong enough to do a lot of the abs routine that he does, so I did some crunches and things during the ones that I couldn't do.

I'm just bummed that the bands broke!  The rest of the videos use the bands, too...

so part me is wondering if I'm going to end up buying new bands every week.

boo.

Have you tried Turbo

Have you tried Turbo Jam yet?  I've been doing that, Hip Hop Abs and I also got a Gaiam Abs ball which comes with a short workout.  All of these programs are designed to focus on the core and might really help you.  The thing I like about Turbo is that it's almost all standing ab work.  I've definitely noticed a big difference in the strength of my back and stomach.

Btw, thanks for the comments on my blog.  There's so much support here and being able to relate to others going through similar struggles really helps.

Skinny vibes!

Hi

Oh yes, that sucks when you buy something and it only last thru one workout.  I would be quite adamant about them sending me the bands at no charge when I called them.  If not, then I would return it and request full refund.   They should stand behind their product.  You are doing awesome with your workouts.  Keep it up, I like the way you improvise when you can't do the specific workout as they do,  I hadn't thought about that.   Blessings to you.  Chargail

I have that one...

though I've barely taken it out of the package.  So you think someone my size should wait until I'm a little smaller to try it out?  I don't want to have a heart attack or anything!

Thanks for the review of it though :)

Thanks for the comment...

on the Billy video.  I'll let you know how it works out if I ever decide to do it!

Rubber Band Man

Hey there!  I found you on one of my friend's "friends list", and came across your band concern.  If you like the concept of bands for strength training (I do -- I read an online article that stated a good set of bands is the best "home gym" you can buy for under $500), I've got a product sugguestion for you:

www.beachbody.com/category/fitness_gear/bands_balls_weights.do

I bought a set to go with my Power 90 video and liked them enough to buy another set.  They're tough, and do provide palpably different levels of resistance depending on their rating/color.  I've been using the same set for almost a year now with few signs of wear, and they haven't given me any trouble.  Though they're on the expensive side (as far as bands go -- between $30 - $35 for sets of 3), they're by far the best I've play tested.

Sorry about the Billy Blanks bands.  Hope you find this info helpful.  Take care and keep up the good work!

Pcos

Just wanted to say that I really appreciate your blog.  I have PCOS as well.  Several years ago I was diagnosed with Diabetes.  Recently my doctor has been pushing insulin shots.  I think alot of times I start feeling helpless (along with a little self pity) and stop trying.  It is very inspiring to see others with similar health issues who decide to take control of their lives and refuse to be victims of circumstance.  Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Hey!

Where are yooouuuu??
