Day 12 - Thursday

Didn't get a chance to check-in yesterday - really busy at work finishing up our website.

So Wednesday night I did Quick Fix Pilates Abs session 1 and Yoga for Meditation - Sky.  I also walked 2 miles that afternoon and got in over 11,000 steps for the day.

Thursday morning I was up bright and early doing Ultimate Calorie Blaster.  A good workout, still need to get better at some of the segments, but I got most of them.  Yesterday afternoon I also walked two miles again.

I didn't workout at all last night due to the stress from the day (DS#2 didn't want to eat at all and I took him to the doctor where I was told he may have a chest infection and he may just be teething - but here is your antibiotic) and I just went to bed early.  That was good for me.

Wednesday - Day 11

I'm still here and still exercising.  I managed a 2 mile walk at work yesterday afternoon to get out and enjoy the nice weather.  I must be one of the last ones to walk with a cassette walkman, but it's mine and I don't have an ipod or mp3 player yet.  The music really helped me pick up my pace.  I listen to a lot of 80s music and it was motivating and fun.

I also got in my yoga and pilates last night - I didn't think I would but I went downstairs to get ready for bed and decided I would.  I did 10 minute solution pilates - flexibility and Yoga for Meditation - Wind.

4:30 seemed really early this morning and I was sleeping so well, but I am committed (or do I need to be committed? :) ) so I got out of bed, dressed and popped in Firm Total Sculpt plus Abs - not my favorite, but I am slowly learning that I like Cardio Sculpt or Cardio better than total Sculpt tapes (which is a complete opposite of when I first started working out).  But it is a good workout and I will do it again.

I decided to day to complete the Firm January Rotation as is now and then substitute videos in in February.  I have been enjoying my Firm workouts and I like not having to think about what to do.  I am going to add in yoga videos on my rest days but I have them all planned out.  I think most of those are going to be virgin workouts for me.

Today was official weigh-in and I am definitely down 2 lbs!  I was also swollen so I think that the 188 on the scale yesterday might be for real, but we'll wait and see - 2 lbs since the New Year is great to me.  I also measured, but most was the same, clothes are fitting better though.  I think I have lost 3/4" total so far - in my arm and in my thigh.  I'm interested in seeing my results after completing my f irst rotation.

Eating is still fairly under control.  I didn't do too bad last night and we went out to eat.  I did eat a little too much, but it wasn't the worst thing I could have done.  I didn't come home and eat ice cream so that was a big plus!

I hope to get in a walk this afternoon - the sun is out and the temps are in the 60s - so I am going to go enjoy the nice weather on my break this afternoon.

Pilates and yoga in store for tonight, not sure exactly what yet - it's a mood thing for me.

Until tomorrow!

Tuesday - Day 10

I walked yesterday morning at work for 1 mile in 15.5 minutes, so that was good.  I got in over 8000 steps yesterday also.  I wanted to walk in the afternoon but it was so windy here, I just didn't want to fight it.  Jacob (my youngest) is having a time with teething so I spent part of the afternoon on the phone with the babysitter and the advice nurse and also worrying about him.  Thankfully the advice nurse thinks it's teething also.  Hopefully those two top teeth will poke on through.

This morning I really didn't want to get out of bed, but I didn't want to miss a workout either so up I went.  I did Yoga on the Ball with Sara Ivanhoe.  It was interesting.  The ball did make some poses easier, but I thought it made some harder too.  I enjoyed the workout and will try it again on another "rest" day.  I plan on walking this morning and this afternoon as it is supposed to be in the 60s here today - I want to get out and enjoy this weather.

Last night I didn't do yoga or pilates, instead I spent some very much needed "me" time.  I scrapbook, so last night I spent time re-organizing my scrapbook room, and putting away all the great things I got for Christmas.  I now have the desire to scrapbook again and hopefully tonight after a supper of leftovers, we will put the boys to bed and I will go up there and work on some pages.

I have decided that both boys will go to daycare on Monday (I am off) so I can have a "me" day - I will workout, rest and scrapbook.  Now I just have to make sure I do the things I need to around the house on Saturday!

Have a great one everyone!

Monday - Day 9

Well it's another work week and I am very motivated still.  I think if I make it through the next two weeks I will definitely be on my way to making exercise a habit.

Yesterday was a success - I only had a few small bites of one treat (and it was really good, but I stopped).  I also ate a fairly sensible lunch and ate well at supper too.  I also got in over 10,000 steps - which I couldn't believe, Sunday's are usually my lay around days (and I did), but I moved too - this included the morning workout.

Last night I finished up the day with the Thighs section of Crunch Pick your Spot Pilates - that was tough.  I honestly think my thighs are my worst part - they are just huge.  I am definitely a pear, I mean I have a belly, but compared to my lower half, it isn't as bad.  In fact my size 16's gape at the waist and are tight in the butt and thighs.  That's why I am concentrating  on pilates.  The last time I did them regularly (especially working butt and thigh) with Lotte Berk too, my thighs started slimming down.  After the leg-burning pilates, I did Yoga for Meditation - Tree.  A good segment.  I am going to have to work my way to sitting in full lotus, but half lotus is not a problem, nor is full lotus for just a little bit.  But flexibility and stress relief is what I am doing yoga for.

This morning came bright (well it's actually still dark) and early at 4:30.  Bed felt really good, but I told myself how good I would feel after a workout, so up I went.  This morning was Total Musle Shaping from Firm BSS3.  I do this on the Transfirmer, not the box (or death box as it is often called).  Good workout.  Mostly sculpt with a little cardio.  I used 3, 5 and 8 lbs and what Stephanie called for was perfect for me.  The only thing I hated was one set of leg press used medium weights for biceps too, and right now I don't add weights to lg press since it is tough enough for me to get my weight up and down, so I didn't really work my biceps that set, but there was at least one more set so I guess it's okay.  Next time I will try to remember this and use weights (of course next time I do this tape, using weights with leg press may not be a problem.)

Definitely starting to feel stronger and DH made comments on how I am looking different.  I had a major victory yesterday morning when I tried on a skirt that I hadn't been able to wear for awhile (size 14) and I could wear it.  You know I wore that proudly to church yesterday.  I looked at DH and said "Mama definitely is losing weight."  He seemed proud too.

So to those of you out there struggling - keep it up - that is all we can do - the weight will come off, we just have to keep trying.  Whenver we stumble we must pick ourselves back up and start again.  I am finding that getting my mind in the right place is really helping.  I really wanted a pizza last night (the small frozen, 15 zillion calorie kind), but I perservered and ate some leftover fish DH made and made myself a salad.  You know what - I enjoyed the food and felt good after eating too.

Here's to another great day!

Here's to a wonderful Sunday - Day 8

Well I was able to get up and exercise again this morning.  I have to get up at 5:00 on Sundays because we go to church at 8:30 and live about 30 minutes away.  This is better than weekdays when I get up at 4:15-4:30 though.  Saturday is my only day to sleep in and that is only to 6:30-7:00, whenever the baby wakes up.

First let me say what I did last night - I did Denise Austin's Hit The Spot Pilates: Abs and Waistline segment.  That was pretty tough for me who is just getting back into pilates after a second c-section - my lower abs are really weak and my upper abs aren't a lot better, but I will keep trying and I will be able to do all the moves eventually.  I followed that with Yoga for Relaxation session 1 which I believe was 35-40 minutes long.  Very relaxing, a lot of supported (with a bolster and blankets) restoration poses.  I felt great after this.  A lot of time for meditation and feeling my body.  Very centering.

This morning I did Firm Maximum Cardio Burn Abs.  I finally got the front back right, front back left part.  Usually I am just  making it up as I go along.  I am so thrilled to finally get that down.  Choreography really does get easier for those of you who struggle in the beginning.  I promise, because it has for me - just keep trying.  Anyway - this was a great workout, the leg press segments really got my heart rate up and I was sweating away.

Good news - I'm pretty sure I have lost another pound!  I weigh every morning and the last two it has been down to 189!  I will make it official with my weigh-in on Wednesday.  Here's to watching the scale continue to go down and my fitness increasing!

Well off to get the baby fed, ready for church and the 5 year old up.  Today is my toughest day eating wise since we go to my parent's house and they keep a lot of typical grandparent's treats for the kids.  The problem is the mommy has no will-power at times.  But I will perservere today.  If I eat a treat, it won't be much.

Oh - speaking of treats.  DH got out the ice cream last night (moose tracks -  my favorite), but I only took a couple of bites.  I am afraid he is trying to sabotage me a little.  We have a friend who's wife lost a lot of weight, it completely changed her and she left him.  I wonder if he is afraid of that.  Trust me I love my DH - he is the perfect man for me, flaws and all, so I won't leave him, besides I really don't want to ever enter the dating arena again!  So he is stuck with me.  I just want to lose weight for my health, to be an example to the boys and yes to look even sexier for DH!

Good luck to all of you who are striving for weight loss/fitness in the coming year!  Please leave comments - I would love to visit your blog for inspiration and motivation!

Have a great day!

Day 7

First off, last night I did 10 minute solution pilates: sculpt (the arms, chest and back one with weights) and then I did the first two sections of Stripilates which I got off of Ya-Ya Swap.  It's definitely interesting.  I will be trying more of it soon.  I finished up with Yoga for Meditation: Garden which is seated postures, and this was the second time I did it, but it seemed harder this time.  Amazingly enough - I didn't want to even do yoga last night but once I started I enjoyed every minute.

Another day - Saturday which is one of the hardest days on me eating-wise.  So far so good though - I have been so busy that I haven't snacked.

I just got my workout in a few minutes ago.  I am following the Firm January rotation, usually substituting in videos I want to try for the type of firm video of the day.  This week I will be following and doing the firm videos it shows.  So I started today with Complete Body Sculpting with Christa.  It's been awhile since I have done this one, but I really enjoyed it.  The amazing thing to me is how much easier choreography is becoming the more I workout.  I don't mean the more times I do one individual video - I mean just doing videos overall.  5 years ago I would have never tried Cathe, I mainly did Denise Austin because I could get most of her moves.  Now I love the Firm, can see the addiction to Cathe and want to try some others who are new to me (Mindy, Christi Taylor, etc.)  Fitness is a great thing.

Tonight I have some more pilates and yoga on tap.  First I need to finish getting down the Christmas decorations and I really want to go and get some scrapbooking done.  Anything to keep me from snacking.  Well the baby is calling right now, must go and tend to him.  He and the 5-year old appear to be sick.  I have been seriously washing my hands and praying because I really don't want to get sick right now (though that seems to be what typically happens when I start working out again).  I've done 7 days of working out so far and still plan to continue every day in January!

My first post - but it's actually day 7 of trying to find the new me!

So I'm one of those who made the New Year's resolution to lose weight, but it really is more than that.  I am really going to get healthy this year.  My main goal is to become consistent with exercise.  Not start out, quit, start again, but stay with it.  I really do like to exercise, I just don't like getting up at 4:30 am, but this is the only time I can do it.

So far I am doing well.  I am going to spend two weeks concentrating on exercise and watching my portion sizes.  If that does not seem to help me lose weight then I will start up with Weight Watchers again at home (I know how to calculate points and all that, so I do it on my own - would love to join, but money is the problem right now - two children in daycare should say it all!)

I have already lost 1 pound since my weigh-in last week, and I think that I may have lost one more (I couldn't tell if my scale said 190 or 189 this morning - 4:30 is early).

I have figured out a few rewards for myself so far - they can't be extravagent because of the money situation, but I believe these are doable.  Here is what I have so far:

lose 10 pounds:  purchase Yoga Shakti from Deep Discount DVD
lose 20 pounds:  purchase Firm Calorie Killer 2
50 workout days by February 28 - Firm 3-in-1 bootcamp

These are great rewards for me, so I hope they really motivate me!

A summary of my exercise so far is:

12/31/2005:  Fit Prime Metaboost
1/1/2006:  Fit Prime Flexposture, 1 mile walk in afternoon, 10 minute solution pilates segment and 10 minute solution yoga segment (before bed)
1/2/2006:  Firm Cardio Burn (morning), 10 minute solution pilates segment, yoga for meditation segment (before bed)
1/3/2006:  Walk and Jog (morning), 2 - 1-mile walks (during day), Denise Austin Hit the Spot Pilates - Core, Yoga for Meditation segment (before bed)
1/4/2006:  Cathe Basic Step Body Fusion DVD add-ons - did all three - upper/lower/abs (morning), yoga for meditation segment (before bed)
1/5/2006:  AM Yoga for Meditation, AM Stretch (morning - this is my rest day), 2 1-mile walks (during day)
1/6/2006:  Cathe Low-Impact Step Firm Abs segment 1

So far so good on my every day in January workout schedule.  Enjoyed the nice weather here on Tuesday and Thursday and went for walks during my breaks at work.  Won't be able to do that today - it's a screaming north wind and about 45 degrees - too cold for me.  I do plan to do pilates and yoga tonight.

I am also wearing my pedometer daily, trying to get in as many steps as I can.  Today was the first day I wore it while exercising and that was great - it's only 10am and I already have over 4000 steps.

For my exercise I am using the Firm's January rotation as a guideline for the type of workout but throwing in my own videos that I haven't tried.  I think I will do the rotation as they wrote it next week, because I feel the need to do a lot of Firm.  That means I start with Complete Body Sculpting tomorrow.  I have done this one or two times and I think I like it - we'll see tomorrow.

Okay enough for now - I will probably make another entry
