seriously.

That which don't kill you, does truly only make you stronger.

Before After

I pray for strength...

It's Sunday, and belonging to a religious family doesn't help with exercising and eating healthy on these days. First, there was church this morning, and my mom has made a huge meal of mash potatoes, ham, corn, salad, apple crisp etc... I know as soon as I go up to the formal dining room, all hell will break loose. I will plow headlong into way too much food. My goal here is to fill my plate once, and eat slowly. After lunch, our tummies overlystuffed, we all take naps. I'm going to go try to shoot baskets at least for an hour before relaxing. I just thought typing my thoughts into here might actually keep me focused....

My prayer today, "Give me strength, dear God, that I can pass by that apple crisp. Amen"

As much as

As much as Sunday is apparently "feast day" at your house, you might want to think about this theory.

When you put food in your body that it doesn't need, you are wasting it.   Eating slowly is a great idea, and it will allow you to feel when you get to satisfaction.  If you can stop at that point and go shoot some baskets, you'll be way ahead of the game.  Good luck.

Thanks

Thanks for putting things into perspective! I will definitely focus on knowing when I'm full. Well, I gotta run... The evil little minions are calling from the dining room, "time to eat, it won't hurt you, now, would you like some apple crisp?" :)

Eat more of what's healthy

When I'm faced with a meal I know i could over do it on, I try to put more on my plate that is healthy, such as in the meal you have mentioned, lots of corn with little butter, big salad with low fat/fat free dressing (if possible) and small piece of ham. That will give you a meal but keeping you healthy at the same time. I don't know if you follow any kind of plan (I count points for weight watchers), but if you behave and eat healthy the rest of the week, that apple crisp on Sunday won't hurt you much. but if you eat apple crisp everyday, that's another story. I usually give myself one meal a week to splurge on the rest of the time I stick to healthy (low point) meals.
