Before After

A little more about me.

I'm about 30 pounds overweight. I often find myself not feeling energized and when I do play sports I have to stop and catch my breathe while my buddies are still going strong. I catch myself noticing people's perfect abs and wonder, "how can I get those?" Lots and lots of work seems to be the answer. I'm not going to try any "miracle" pill, but instead watch my calorie intake and be sure to get in some good exercising. I joined the Y and plan on going swimming. This is the plan. My girlfriend just went for summer school abroad and so we will not be seeing each other until September 1. I want to surprise her by being skinny, having dropped those 30 pounds. Also, I have a younger brother that weighs around 230 pounds and is only 15. I am concerned about his health, and since I'm in the health profession, I've seen kids like him develop early onset diabetes.  This scares me so much, that I want to show and support him through his own weight loss. So, I have a few questions for some of you avid dieters and I would sure appreciate a response :)

1. I calculated what my max calorie intake should be, and it is 2009 calories per day. Would you recommend cutting this down to 1500 a day? More or less? How fast will that make me lose the pounds?

2. I hate breakfast. It makes my stomach turn. All I need is my coffee. How important is it to have breakfast? I have found an alternative and that is a Muscle Milk protein shake in the morning. Do you think that is "ok"?

3. Not a question. Please add me as a friend. I love to get to know people and will find it a joy to join each individual on their own "bringin' sexyback" journey. That's my theme song right now.

Headed to the treadmill.... Hasta LaVista...

hey...

I can't answer the questions because I can't see the questions.  The color of the font in that area is dark.

.

WOW.  First, welcome to EP.

Second, I know you are a guy and you guys have different needs, so I am not sure what to say about the calories, but holy cow.  I am 250+ lbs and according to sparkpeople, I can have in the 1700-2000 range of calories, so for you to be under 200 lbs and be able to have 2900 calories?  That just seems high.  Maybe do some more checking into that.

Breakfast is supposedly important according to all the diet guru's out there to get our metabolism moving after the night.  What it needs to consist of, I have no clue, so I say try those protein drinks and see what happens.

Good luck on the journey - I am sure your GF will be impressed when she returns.

RE: Taebo.diva

I tried changing that. Hopefully that works. I think I might have to change the layout of my blog. This black background makes everything really hard to read. Thanks for pointing that out!

RE: GCQMom

Like I said in the last post, it was difficult to read. The amount of calories I can have is around 2009. I know, ironic that it would be the exact amount as the year date, but makes for some easy remembering.

Thanks for the feedback on the breakfast drinks. I'll let you know what I think after a while! :)
