while hubby does WW with all his materials, i am not. the food log here doesn't do points, so i'm counting calories. these first few days i restricted my diet, but didn't have a figure in mind.

at diet blog i found a tool that helps you calculate your daily calorie needs.

Maintenance: 1934 Calories/day
Fat Loss Range: 1584 - 1584 Calories/day

that seems like a lot of calories. also found something online that says that you shouldn't drop below 1200 calories per day.

if i've got a few more hundred calories to play with, i may stop wasting my time on frozen diet meals. the ravioli florentine i ate tonight was sour. didn't taste at all good.

in other news hubby reported that he lost 5.6 pounds in the four days that he's dieted. it makes me sick, really. but he also puts them on quickly, too. the last time we did WW together he lost more than 50 pounds in four months.

I don't know too much about dietblog... but I used to use this site:

It's free to sign up and it tells you how many calories you need a day and lets you log your foods just like you would do on WW, except it's free. I have a lot of friends who use it too.

I've heard the same thing about dropping your calories too low. Something about it slows down your metabolism. Good luck with your weight loss!

Is that what you did to enable his 5.6 lb loss? Geez. Tis not fair. I think it's awesome that you found the amount of calories one should eat for weightloss and maintenance. In reality, the whole WW Points program is a calorie counting program. Way to go on your big loss!

We are all different

Always remember .. Men have it easier when it comes to weight loss.. So his loss is a non issue for you.. I have been a weight warrior all my life.. So I know how it is.. I think what we always have to remember is that.. We have control over one t hing.. what we chose to put in our mouths. Very SImple.. Very complicated at the same time..It is hard to pass up good treats.. and if you want something fine.. have .. and count it .. even estimate the calories.. that way you know exactly what you are doing.. You can do this.. for you.. about you.. the rest .. as they say .. is icing on the cake
